Concerning Friendship Souls' next chapter, while its shaping up well, its going to be a fairly long chapter and I'm going to need another week on it, so expect the update next Saturday instead of this one. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.
Then, for the month of November, I'm taking a bit of a break from fanfiction writing, but not from writing itself, because I'm going to be doing the National Novel Writing Month. Basically its a marathon writing event where the objective is to write a 50,000 word story in thirty days. I'm going to see about getting something written that's wholly my own. But fear not, once the NaNoWriMo is done I'll be going right back to our regularly (or semi-regularly 
) scheduled fanfiction writing.
Prepare your sunglasses folks because things are going to get epic.

Also, I look forward to reading some original work from you. Can you tell me anything about it?
Your chapters on this story have almost all been over 10K words for more than 2 years, so "fairly long" must be an understatement.
That said, it shouldn't be too difficult getting 50K words in November for NaNoWriMo. Here's hoping your inspiration stays high though.

I'm planning to try my hand a writing a "kaiju" story, basically in the same genre as Godzilla or Gamera, only I plan to put a heavy sci-fi twist on it by setting the story in the far future after humans have already expanded into space. The basic premise is that humankind is engaged in a war with an alien empire that is ruled over by kaiju-like monsters called the "World Lords" (if you've ever watched any Stargate SG-1, think the the Goa'uld System Lords if they were giant alien kaju instead of tiny worm symbiotes). To counter the threat, the humans have genetically engineered kaiju of their own to fight back, and each of these kaiju is paired with a human handler who trains them from birth to be loyal fighters for humanity. The story itself is going to focus on a particular group of such kaiju that must defend a world that's come under surprise attack by the World Lord's. I'm working on details beyond that.
No probs, sounds like you intend to wrap up the action with the next chapter if you're making it that long so you need to make it suitably epic.
