question do you use motion or stick controls?
If your weapon is designed to kill other inklings, don’t touch the rainmaker. Trusting your teammates to carry it following behind you is the best option.
You’re fucked either way.
Splat zones requires high fire rate to capture the zone. Aerospray, N-Zap, and Sploosh o matic are good choices.
Tower control is odd. Nearly anything can work, which means anything can happen. The center pole on the tower protects you from bombs while riding it. Also, if the tower is in your half, you don’t have to stand on it to move it.
Clam blitz sucks. If you don’t mind being bored for a little while, the Hydra Splatling works wonders as a campy defender. Otherwise, it’s about winning the fights.
Don’t expect to knockout a team once you reach A rank. It almost never happens in a match without a disconnect.

I'm more or less sticking with the Kensa Splattershot for the time being, nothing else I've tried "feels" right, while the Splattershot seems to be adaptable to most situations and suits my playstyle (ie, total noob) adequately. I've actually won Rainmaker solo somehow once, so...
My best mode hands down is Splat Zone. Mostly because I play berserker defense (Leeroy Jenkins in, splat as many fools as I can splat before they splat me, LRR)
I don't play Ranked, kinda want to unlock every weapon and figure stuff out so I get a bit of a head start on being good at things and get out of RNG Mode (low rank) faster.

The Splattershot is an amazing weapon. I use the standard one with burst bombs and splashdown when I use it.
Which comes after the Custom Hydra, the Dual Squelchers, the N-Zap 89, and the Kensa Dynamo.
Dynamos are fun.
