It is my great conceit that I can write interesting stories for utter strangers and maybe sometime in the far far future get paid for it.

Windows 10 had some problems with my network so I had to take it out back and give it the Ol Yeller treatment.
Got a new puppy, Windows 11.
Hopefully, it won't savage my ankles.

    Ponyger

We sat in the North Garden under the cooling shade of the gazebo. The air was warm, and full of the sleepy buzz of no so busy bees. I sat and looked at the half-empty pitcher of ice tea, and thought about what I was going to say next.

    Ghostwire Tokyo

    What is Ghostwire Tokyo?

In a nutshell, its a buddy ghost busting game.

You get to bust ghosts without having a nuclear reactor on your back.
No worries about crossing streams either.

It's a buddy game because it's like those movies where they pair two different folks,
and they have to work together. One person knows more than the other person who has a totally different skillset.

"What is that?" A little girl said.

"I don't know. It looks like a weird two legged unicorn with a white coat and blonde hair. Wonder why it's head is round like a human's?" An older person said.

"Daddy, I'm scared," The little girl said.

Um, maybe I need to wake up now. That little girl sounded real scared. A pony with a round head might have some serious issues and could bite. Damn, why does my bed feel cold and hard? I like a firm mattress, but this might be too much.

I could hear footsteps getting closer.

Have to open my eyes. There, oh this is going to not go well. Instead of my pink, okay, white skin of my nose, there was white fur. Was it mold? Eww. Damn, X-files. Oh, I hope not. Raised my arm, and saw the white fur there too. Oh, this is soo not happening. Checked out my hand while I started to panic. Well, even though it was covered with fur, the fingernails were clear. Thought they would be the same-

"Are you okay?" The older person said.

"Daddy?" The girl said.

My train of thought was interrupted by the voices. Had to turn around and look. Will do an inventory of my body later. I saw a little black girl with pigtails who's brown eyes were full of fear. She wore a blue denim jacket with a pink shirt underneath. Don't ask me how old she looked, I suck at looking at kids, and telling how old they are.

Took a quick glance because I needed to know what I wore. Well, it wasn't PJs. What? You thought I would wear lingerie? What's the point when you live and sleep alone. Heck, I don't even have a cat. Actually, no one has a cat, the cat has them. Except in Soviet Russia, of course. Looked like I was wearing a blue denim jacket over a white t-shirt. Had denim pants on too. What was on my feet, um, hooves? Air Percherons, of course. Of course not, Ima cheap blonde, these were probably the cheapest sneakers I can get. Hoof sneakers, yay! I want to wake up now, but things seemed too real for that.

"Are you alright?" The older black guy said. He wore a denim jacket and pants too.

Um, no. Where am I? How did I get here? Why was I lying on the cold concrete next to a folded up grey robe and a red metal staff? Took a moment to think, but my thoughts were mostly soft and fuzzy like plush toys. A vague fear slowly surfaced. I need to go somewhere safe and make sense of things. I shook my head.

The man sighed. "Well, we're going to the BS stadium-"

The little girl giggled. It sounded like warm pure gold.

"Hey, no laughing at the Beauregard Simmons Stadium! You can come with us. Don't forget your stuff. By the way, My name is Frank Stuart and this is my daughter Elaine," Frank said.

Elaine smiled then went back to a frown.

"My name is Lorna Dobbs," I said. Thought there was more to say but my thoughts were soft, fuzzy and worthless.

Frank pointed down the block past me. "The stadium is just four blocks away. If we hurry, we can make it before nighttime."

I nodded and we set off down the block.

We were in some sort of shopping district. There were all sorts of shops. Above them were balconies with black metal. It was somewhat familiar like I've been here or heard about this place but nothing came to my fuzzy mind other than a feeling of unease. This area looked like there should be crowds of people strolling around instead of it being quiet like a tomb. Where is everybody?

Then we heard the sound of hooves.

No, not mine, I'm wearing sneakers.

Frank looked at me, I looked back.

"Let's hide behind a car and see what shows up," Frank said then pointed at a large car.

I nodded and we hid.

Three ponies trotted around the corner. They were one unicorn, pegasus and a regular pony. The unicorn had a weird color scheme for its mane and tail. Red and yellow in big stripes. That was not all, her coat was orange. What sort of ponies have orange coats? Then there was the heads, large and round like a human's.

Frank looked at me. "Your head is like theirs. Do you know them?"

I shrugged.

The ponies looked up and down the street.

What is going on?

Then the unicorn sighed. "Lorna, I know you're in the area. Please come with us."

What? How did the pony know my name? What's going on? Anger sorta bubbled up in me.
I'm so going to give who or what's responsible to bringing me here a piece of my mind!
I stood up...
