Journal Entry - Volume 4 - Chapter 20 · 3:13am Jul 4th, 2019

Dear Diary,

Today was... interesting, to say the least. I... I made some terrible mistakes and may have made a very wrong verdict in a serious case! One Trixie Lulamoon was accused of many, MANY crimes by one of my closest friends, Captain Decimus! However, Arc seemed to think many of the crimes didn't happen or should be dropped entirely! Seeing as he was the one who arrested her, this is quite surprising! What goes through his head, I don't understand!

Captain Decimus claimed to have a confession of the accused. However, upon requesting it, he was only able to procure one signed by "somepony" named Stupid Unicorn! While I'm sure the captain did indeed acquire a confession, I find it... disturbing that he neglected to check the signature! I had no choice but to move forward with the trial.

Without a proper Councillor, Arc volunteered to speak for Trixie. More surprising is that she AGREED to such a biased speaker! While I am certain there is more to this than I see before me, I could not think of a reason to deny her request. Arc was able to be speak for the prosecution with what I believe to be the truth as well as speak honestly for the defendant! Again, how he did that is beyond me!

During the closing statement was when I really started to doubt myself. So much, that I had to excuse myself from the room and think! Against my better judgement, I sentenced Trixie to one year in prison. The problem is... was I too lenient OR too generous! For the first time, I really don't know! As strange as it may sound, I believe Arc AND Captain Decimus are both speaking truthfully! Is the captain being overzealous?! Or, an equally scary thought, has this mare been able to so completely manipulate Arc as to convince him of her innocence?! I can only hope that our Hero of Light is smarter than THAT!

Or... is Arc manipulating... us...

If you follow your emotions, don't expect them to take you too far!
