me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Well, thank goodness this isn't Youtube otherwise I'd get demonetized for even speaking of that. Right, sorry, I had to inject a little bit of humor and snark into these trying times.

Right, I won't pretend to be a medical expert because I'm not. I'm just going to inject my thoughts into the ongoing madness. Okay, firstly and I know you keep on hearing this but it can't be said enough. Wash your hands. It's basic common sense really, it is literally the first and foremost thing you should do. Stock up on whatever supplies you need, and just stay in your house if at all possible. We can and will get through this. Think of it as an introvert's paradise really. I am.

All the same though, and yes I realize some of these precautions are necessary but I do have to wonder how much of them actually are. People are going to get sick, as people do still have to work. ....and I'm just answering my own question, given the mass shut down of schools and businesses is to halt the spread.

Now, about toilet paper hoarding. Can we just.... not please? There's being prepared and there's being a dick. Amazon is already having supply issues. Granted, it's just a transport issue of getting things to where they need to go, and like everything else give it a few odd weeks or so. Life will get back to normal. What I worry about is the stock market, and I'm no Wall Street expert but that seems to be the real danger. Everyone's losing money and getting the economy back on its feet will be the real challenge.

Apologies if I had to get up on my high horse, had to speak a little.

Many companies are encouraging people to work from home.

See, like I said. Introvert's paradise right now.

People are crazy. Apparently the schools in Minnesota are closing for two weeks starting tomorrow.

5220943
It's not just Minnesota. It's everywhere. And the worst part is, kids shouldn't have much to fear! Now, of course some of the teachers might have to worry so I can sorta see the logic.

Work at a grocery store, last 3 days have been hell as the big city a couple hours away got a case and people have been fleeing in mass so i expect weve most likely been infected thanks to these people.

Am annoyed i had to buy TP before i needed it just to make sure i had some when i run out.

People need to turn off the damn news and listen to the CDC and WHO as they dont have any reason to lie and feaemonger like the news.

The number of people who act like this damn virus is on the level of the Black Death is absurd.

Nicely said. I made a similar post myself yesterday. Just don't panic and act with common sense. That's the best thing we can do right now.

Sadly common sense is that rarest of superpowers.

Situation in Europe ain't pretty as well. Italy and Germany are on hard lockdown and tomorrow pretty much all schools, libraries, clubs, etc. will be shut down.

But at least, we haven't have cases of people hoarding toilet paper nor are they scalping people by selling it back on ebay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ3S7bH_wF8

Anyway, personally my region is still safe so things are still chill for now.

If you all want an ideal of the situation world wide, look at this, been keeping an eye for a week now.

Well, on the brighter side of things, China is starting to recover from the initial spike in infection. So I think that's a pretty good sign.

5221073
Yeah, I've been watching the news every so often. It's sorta like looking at a real life zombie movie. Kinda eerie. Still, I'm not in full panic mode. Science will find a cure, and really I think the major issue here is the whole stock market crash thing.

5221084
Oh, that is good news.

5221085

Apparently there is already a remedy, but it only cure the symptoms not the virus itself. It's actually a cure for arthritis, it was just a coincidence it help.

Also don't take at face value the numbers coming from China. It has been reported they are willingly omitting mild cases and only count death occurring in hospitals. Same thing apparently in South Korea and Japan.

https://www.wired.com/story/covid-19-is-nothing-like-the-spanish-flu/

I also point to this. Comparing it to the Spanish Flu? Okay, yeah there are certain similarities but we still and never actually will know how many that Virus killed. It was a century ago, and 2% is... probably a low estimate. Our records are a bit sketchy.

5221129
Comparing it to Spanish flue is problematic as it doesn't take the global climate into account.

5221126
Yeah, with China I do take things with a grain of salt I admit, but I'm trying to be optimistic here. To be honest, I'm more overtly concerned with the situation on Wall Street than C19. Science is evolving, finance is... pretty much staying the same.

5221132
There are so many things it doesn't take into account.

5221135
Like the fact the world had just emerged from a war.

5221140
I will be honest, I'll take my chances. I think you're more likely -at least for the moment- to get struck by lightning than get cut down with Corona.

5221150
Especially if you're young.

5221157
Pretty sure 22 counts as young.
