My favorite films seen in 2023.

My favorite films I've watched in 2023.

    1. The Philadelphia Story (1940) - When a rich woman's ex-husband and a tabloid-type reporter turn up just before her planned remarriage, she begins to learn the truth about herself. (This movie has a very good cast. I very much enjoyed seeing this.)

Happy Thanksgiving, and I present you all with a song.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

And the song I am going to link you all is a holiday tune, but that season is close enough.

The book is set up by decades, so today I’ll cover every film it mentions from before the 1930s. (The copyright of the book is 2009.)

    The 1910s and 1920s:

I'll start with a movie recommendation.

"Panic In The Streets" (1950) - A doctor and a policeman in New Orleans have only 48 hours to locate a killer infected with pneumonic plague.
Stars Richard Widmark, Jack Palance and Barbara Bel Geddes (She played 'Midge' in Hitchcock's "Vertigo". She's great in this film.)

The Thing From Another World (1951)(Check this flick out if you haven't seen it.)

Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman (1958)(Best movie poster ever? Quite possibly.)
Them! (1954)(Watch this flick. It rules.)
Forbidden Planet (1956)(See Young Leslie Nielsen and a robot! Nielsen was mansome back in the day.)
Godzilla (1954)(The original Japanese release. All about the Atom.)
Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954)(Yet another major classic film. This Tuesday line-up is stacked.)
TCM PRIMETIME - WHAT'S ON TONIGHT: 1948 IN NOIR

Rest Of Wednesday Afternoon:

Excuse My Dust (1951)
The Yellow Cab Man (1950)

TCM is really stacking up an interesting line-up for the 50th Annual Earth Day tonight.

TCM PRIMETIME - WHAT'S ON TONIGHT: EARTH DAY 50TH ANNIVERSARY
An Inconvenient Truth (2006)
Koyaanisqatsi (1982) - Experimental documentary that moves from images of untouched nature to others depicting human beings' increasing dependence on technology.
The Plow That Broke The Plains (1936) - Documentary cameras delve into the causes of the Depression's dust bowl.
The River (1938) - The TVA brings modern technology to the farmers along the Mississippi River.
The Sea Around Us (1952) - Documentary based on Rachel Carson's pioneering study of ocean life.
Wind Across The Everglades (1958) - A game warden takes on a band of bird poachers in the Florida Everglades.
No Blade Of Grass (1970)(Horror film) - A family tries to escape an environmental holocaust.

Five documentaries then an adventure film about poachers and an eco-horror film. I've seen none of these. And only heard of the Al Gore documentary.
