Surprised at the reception to Sophomoric Sweetie Belle; Chapter 2 on the way · 2:04pm May 4th, 2020
Ever since I wrote The Expansive Romance of Applebloom and Coral Leaf, I kept turning over a number of ways to maybe do another story after their happily-ever-after-epilogue...but after several tries, nothing was really sparking me to say, “I HAVE to do this!”*
With Sophomoric Sweetie Belle, the goal was to become a bit more “economical.” Give the reader less of a massive love story, and cut the chapter lengths by at least 50% to streamline the story. The worst thing some people can do is just “re-skin” a previous work, and I wanted to make sure the story with Sweetie Belle could stand on it’s own.
The current ratings after Chapter 1 actually energized me, and I’m almost close to completing the first draft of Chapter 2 (I also tiptoed into Chapter 3 a little!). If all holds to where I think I’m going, we could see a new chapter released in the next 5-7 days.
There’s also another hyper-concept story inspired by some recent art, but I may keep that on the back-burner for now (though it could incite some interesting fanart given some scenes I have in mind).
*Well...there was one concept, but given I respect Coral Leaf’s wishes given he allowed me to use his OC, I’ll just keep that idea to myself.
