I really wonder if he were to appear in the bay films...

Greetings, friends. Joker here. Today, I would like to discuss an underrated Decepticon seeker—Skywarp. Now, Skywarp is honestly not my favorite seeker in general, but he does have interesting aspects of his character. The one I am most interested in is the Bayverse version although he never appeared in the bay films. However, there is a fascinating bio about him in the Revenge of the Fallen toy package. Take a look:

Skywarp has never been interested in power or conquest. He simply wishes to be left alone in his pursuit of knowledge. He joined the Decepticons because Megatron was willing to give him facilities in which to work, and simply leave him alone. In return, he has produced countless powerful weapons and experimental systems for his comrades. He is personally equipped with mighty weapons that can twist the very fabric of reality into a smear of color and light, or rip mountains apart.

Pay more attention to the first sentences. Skywarp was never interested in power or conquest? He only wanted to pursue knowledge? Hmmmm, does he remind us of somepony we know?

Anyway, that right there was very fascinating. It’s like we finally have a Bayverse Decepticon who only joined because of a noble and good occupation. Even when he was battling Blazemaster, he never wanted a real fight with him. You can look that up if you don’t believe me. Plus, he just wanted to be left alone. That means he was most likely an introvert. I can imagine him talking awkwardly with other Decepticons even with Megatron and then just shy away. Awwwww......I say that because I too am an introvert. Don’t judge me.

So, yeah, that is what makes him my favorite version of him despite the fact he never appeared in the films. That’s fine because Michael Bay would’ve butchered his character, give him two lines, one minute of screen time, and kill him off like nothing (although I didn’t mind Decepticon deaths in DOTM because I never cared for them as characters).

G1 Skywarp never appealed to me; he just seemed like a generic seeker who made cheesy one-liners here and there. That’s it. Thus, I never liked him at all.

As for the Animated Skywarp......

He was very cute in the cartoon. By the way, I grew up watching Transformers Animated when I was a kid. I love the show even to this day. For me, that was my G1...if you know what I mean. For him, I actually liked the fact he has more personality than G1 Skywarp. But that leads to a problem: he is too one-dimensional in being a coward (a characteristic that the Bayverse version surprisingly also has but balances it out with his supreme intellect and skill). You see that with all the other Animated Starscream clones.

You do realize they each contained one aspect of Starscream’s personality, right?

True, but that doesn’t mean each of them have to stay that way. That was the main reason why I hated the new Autobots in Age of Extinction. You need to have your characters in more than one dimension. Otherwise, people will not entirely be interested in them.

Thus, the unreleased Bayverse Skywarp wins by a mile. So what are your thoughts on this guy? Do you like him or not like him and why?

Peace.

P.S. Stay tuned for the next chapter of Sunset’s Uprising.

Check this out if you haven't already. It's a video that provides information about every single incarnation of the character:

Also, he's going to appear in the upcoming War for Cybertron cartoon. So, who knows? Maybe that incarnation will be turn out to be the best one yet.

That’s nice.

But do you like him as a character or no? And why?

If you're talking about the Bayverse incarnation, then yes, I do find him very likeable and he does have a very interesting personality. As much as I would've loved to see that personality on the big screen, like you said, Bay would've most certainly made him as generic as all the other Decepticons in the movies. On the other hand, a separate live-action incarnation did make a very brief cameo appearance in the Bumblebee movie, which means there is a good chance of him appearing in the upcoming sequel.
