Just your average Etymologically Correct Filly that equally adores cutesy and/or dramatic romance, as well as horrifying, grimdark tragedies. And any mix of those!

Chapter 6 author's notes · 5:47pm Jul 26th, 2020

Oh no, we’re catching up! It’s probably a good thing, though, since that means I actually remember the thought process behind writing the chapters.

This one was written as a bridge between chapters, as an illustration of how the two of them slowly adapt to the wasteland life, and what they start doing during that time. It’s a nice, happy, chapter. Well except the happy end.

The switch to Candy’s perspective was mostly done because I was bored to bits of Iron’s perspective. The audience already knows what she thinks, and how she thinks it. On top of that, it gave me leeway to keep secrets from the audience heheheh

At first, I kinda hated Candy as a pony. I liked her narrative role and I liked her as a character, but I disliked her personality (in the sense that I couldn’t be friends with her if I met her). It was when I was writing this chapter that I nuanced her personality enough to finally grow to like her. And fuck do I like her. Waifu tier. 10/10 would snuggle. (I can’t really judge her from a narrative perspective, since I’d be judging my own work, but as a person I really like her).

As a tangent, this reminds me of Velvet Remedy. I hated VR’s personality with a passion in both my readings of FoE, but I always loved her as a character. Her flaws make her really interesting to have around LP, and as a plot catalyst she worked phenomenally. It’s just that, given the opportunity, I would slap her across the face (which means Kkat did an amazing job writing VR’s flaws).

This was very rambly. Ooops. As a final note, I still have 2 unpublished chapters, and, imo, they slap. Cya next week.
