Elk Setting · 2:51am Nov 25th, 2012
So I'm in the process of writing out a story outline for the L!verse fic I'm working on and constantly sending PMs doesn't strike me as practical, so I've decided to post the none "spoiler" stuff here.
In case anyone wondering I'm also doing this because an on-line guide told me this is how to write a story outline so this is also an experiment for that.
-----------------------
Story Outline:
Setting:
The story primarily takes place in Elkheim, but there is a little travel to areas outside of it, the city itself is built going “up” a mountain/giant hill in a sort of tier design, the building themselves are a combination of classic Viking style chambers, magic trees with an obvious dash of advancement. Outside the city there is a large collection of tents as large numbers of moose are visiting, the city itself is crowed far more so than normal and there is a prevailing sense of excitement with an undercut of dread.
The characters have come at an exciting time in ElkHeim it’s the sammeln Feier, which is basically when lots of moose, red deer, water deer and elk get together and celebrate in the honour of their all father and to celebrate the Einherjars who are to take their yearly drink of “immortality elixir” and renew their vows of honour and friendship to one another and pay respect to the all father. There are large public event like jousting and duelling for entertainment as well as obstacle courses and mead and fine food is all over the place!
Yggdrasil is a great tree that grew up from beneath the pool of wisdom, now the pool of immortality, it’s roots stretch deep and far into the land and it stretches up taller than nay mountain touching the clods, it is here at the top of the tree a meeting place has been carved amongst the mighty branches the pool sit, waiting to grant the council their youth and to once again birth Sleipnir into the world.
Yggdrasil grows up behind Elkheim stretching far taller than the mountain itself and for ever looming over the city majestically, powerful branches stretch down creating paths and passage ways, all of which are continually guarded.
Elkheim itself is something of a modest capital reasonable large but not a giant bustling metropolis. The castle itself is certainly impressive in itself but also, “small” in comparison to Canterlot castle and is somewhat more fort like. The castle itself sit’s near the top of the hill practically in front of the great tree Yggdrasil and a passage way to the top where the council convenes is easily accessible.
It’s currently a bit snowy I’m thinking, but I can change that whenever.
Sorry if this is a bit disorganised.
Just out of curiosity, why is this a blog instead of a thread over on the Lunaverse boards?
Otherwise, I can't find much to comment on personally. I see lots of potential fun world building stuff here, but Fizzy's always been more invested in the Elkheim stuff than me.

I'm mostly writing this out for my benefit more than anything else, but also to check with with FIzzy whether it's all-right but PMing was getting difficult... hmm should it be in the L!boards? So far I've been discussing it with Fizzy and RDD.

Probably worth at least dropping a link back to here in either brainstorming or the World Map threads.
536699 I shared with Vazak all the stuff I came up with and he added his own ideas.
Elkheim is the name of the country, not their city. I think the capital city was going to be named Heorot (the name of the palace of King Hroðgar in Beowulf). And their castle was supposed to be Valaskjálf ("the Shelf of the Slain," one of Odin's two halls, alongside Valhalla).

ah ok then I'll work the edits into the story.
