    SoTN side story coming soon!

Title says it all. I've been working on a side story to Soldier of the Night over the past couple of months and I'm so excited to share it with you all once the first chapter is done. I haven't got a set release date for it but keep a look out in the coming weeks, I think this will really help ease me back into writing :ajsmug:

    SoTN update (9/13/2022)

Hey everyone, I'm just chiming in to give you a quick update on SoTN and its future since I feel like one's long overdue. For the most part, this is just going to be a rehash of my most recent comment on the story but as promised I'm also going to include a list of chapters slated for reworking.

Where do I even begin with this? I'm so sorry everybody, I messed up completely. I promised you all something a while back and nothing ever came of that promise.

I thought that I'd have chapter 42 done by March or April but in the time since my mental health's taken a toll in no small part due to what's been going on around the world with all these lockdowns and stuff like that—among other things, since the start of the year I've gone through two job losses, with one happening at the height of lockdown over here at the end of May. I've actually been seeing a psychologist regularly for anxiety and depression, and I'm trying my best to break through this but it's difficult, to say the least. I really haven't had the drive to do anything with my time, let alone write, but believe me, I'm trying my damnedest to regain my mojo and get back to doing the things I used to love doing as soon as possible. I've had ideas flicker through my mind for how to best approach this chapter but I keep finding myself at an impasse with regards to it; they always escape me before I can find a way of translating them into words and sentences.

I miss SoTN and I want to come back to writing it as soon as I can but my biggest fear at the moment is that it might be a bit too late for that. At the very least ever since MLP came to an end last year I've had a nervous habit of checking the active user and site hit counts at the bottom of the site, and while it's been pretty stable in the time since I'm just scared that I will never get to finish the story that I've spent the last six years of my life working on because most people seem to have moved on from MLP as a whole. I just don't want this fanbase to disappear. I want to keep at this but I'm just worried that by the time I'm done with this story I won't have any readers left.

Relax man, yes the "new" numbers will fall some, Gen 5 will makeit go back up again. Just write for YOU. The readers are out there, you can't sit and worry about how many readers you have.

I know I can't but it's just difficult not to think about that, especially for someone that has chronic anxiety like I do. The story's nowhere near close to being finished—I'd say it's about 60% or so of the way through right now—and to be real honest with you I'm just scared shitless of waking up one day to find that the site's been taken down by Knighty and lost to time because people have moved on. All my work would've gone to shit in the blink of an eye.

If it goes away man, it goes away. This is the way of things.

However I doubt very much it is just going to disappear. It's got a good solid base, and MLP has been around since the 80's in some form or another. This isn't really a flash in the pan kind of thing.

Will things change, yes, will they go away, I doubt it.

5379301 Yeah, that does make sense even though I really can't shake the thought of that. Once G5 comes out do you think Knighty would probably just include it on this site?
