I wish I could smile, shrug it off, and say things are going to improve, that this was the worst of it. It isn't. The worst is yet to come, and I advise you all to stay prepared.
Now, 2020 was bad, don't get me wrong. But at the end of it, we're all still here. That's reason enough to celebrate and ridicule 2020 for existing. Nice try, you jerk! But next time, it'll give it's A-game. A premature celebration will get us nowhere. Please, please, don't be complacent.
I advise you all to look to the future with hope. I sincerely wish for the best for you all, and you all are dear to me beyond what my awkward words can express. I legitimately believe we can make it through times of trial. But hope will get us nowhere if we do nothing on our end. Don't we want to triumph? Shake off your apathy and nihilism and prepare for the times ahead of us. "Grr, I'm mad at the state of the world right now." But we're too concerned about our football teams and The Mandalorian Season 3 to fix anything. There will be physical, mental, emotional, economic, and social trials ahead of us. It won't subside just because 2020 ended, and we can't let our guard down. I want to go out fighting for something than living for no purpose, living just to consume.
If there's one universal piece of advice I can give for the new year, it's this: make peace with God and get a gun.
