Twilight is OP · 4:31am Nov 29th, 2012
I was reading this, and thought, how much power could Twilight output? I decided to take a look at Boast Busters, as this seems to be the only time Twilight gets tired when using magic.
Assuming the Ursa Minor has a density about the same as a grizzly bear (360 kg, standing 1 meter at the shoulder), and a height of 25 meters (rather large, but there was no solid evidence as to how tall anything is), that would make it 225,000kg.
The water tower I estimated to be 25,000 liters, about the size of one on a residential building in NYC. Fresh milk has a density of 1.035kg per liter, as found here. This gives the filled tower a mass of 25,925kg, ignoring the mass of the steel. This means that the Ursa with the tower has a mass of 250,925kg.
Assuming that Twilight levitated the Ursa back home at 75 meters per second (one Ursa length) and the gravity in Equestria is 1g, that means that Twilight has a theoretical maximum output of 18,819,375W, or 18.8MW. And that is ignoring the added power that is lost due to distance between her and the Ursa. This converts to about 25 thousand horsepower.
No wonder Celestia took such an interest in her.
Also, OP Twilight is canon.
A little extra research shows that Twilight's output in one second is about half of this nuclear bomb's. Twilight is basically a walking nuke, guys. Think about that next time you write her.
Next, I'm going to run analysis on Princess Celestia.
Whoa. You defiantly earned your username.
A few more things. A large grizzly is about 3 meters in length, so the Ursa would be about 75 meters. Twilight obviously held the Ursa for more than a second. About 15 seconds, actually.
I know I messed up, looking at the episode again. She obviously levitated the Ursa faster than 1 m/s. After a second look, I'll conservatively estimate 75 m/s (one Ursa length per second), so about 1.9 TW, or 2.5 trillion horsepower. Over 15 seconds, that comes out to 29.4 TJ, a little more than half of the Little Boy bomb. And she was able to recover quickly, which means that she held back some. I'll leave you to decide what that means.
Good god...
