Alex Hirsch calls out on Disney's hypocrisy · 5:16am Jun 5th, 2021
The creator of Gravity Falls and the voice of Bill Cipher and Grunkle Stan from the same show and King and Hooty from The Owl House is known for his outspokenness on social media. A couple of days ago, Hirsch posted a couple of tweets after Disney posted something in celebration of Pride Month. You can view them here and here.
It comes as no surprise that Disney is a homophobic and ridiculously hypocritical conglomerate organization when they said, "There’s room for everyone under the rainbow." while they censor LGBTQ+ themes and content from their properties to pander to China, Russia, and other countries that are behind of the times.
An image that Disney used to “celebrate” consists of iconic characters who are canonically cisgender and straight. Guess the execs didn't bother putting official LGBTQ+ characters such as Wendy Corduroy, Sheriff Blubs, Deputy Durland, Jackie Lynn Thomas, Luz Noceda, and Amity Blight.
Feel free to watch Vailskibum94's video where he explains the controversy.
Maybe it would be best for Disney and other corporate giants to not celebrate this important month if the thing they're only after is the consumers' money.
Money talks, sadly. China is, as you point out, behind the times, but it's also one of the biggest cinema marketa globally. Businesses usually put the bottom line before morality.
It probably doesn't help that much of the US is horrendously backwards as well. As one old joke puts it;

What's even more controversial is that an executive filed a lawsuit against Disney for sexual orientation discrimination.

Safe to say, the fight for minority rights is far from over. Disney has an especially awkward history in that regard; Soul was, apparently, a very difficult movie to make because of the long history of racism in American animation.

Speaking of, have you noticed that the main black protagonists of Soul and The Princess and The Frog spent most of their time in their non-human forms?

You're not the first to point this out to me.
This. This was something I was going to say in another blog. The only thing I actually hate about pride month, is the cringe hypocrisy from corporations that pretend they give a damn about LGBT rights; hell, about HUMAN rights, and the sadness that there are lemmings out there that think they give a damn about them. Here's how you can tell if someone is legit, check their Middle East and Chinese pages, and if they keep the same rhetoric they show in the west, they are real, but of course, you'll see nothing of the sort to upset them there. Don't want to stop the flow of that precious Yuan,
