So I guess I'm new here · 5:55pm Jun 8th, 2021
It seems I might've joined the party a little too late, but then again, this is a bit of a trend as far as I'm concerned.
So, I'm Fernie, I'm a musician and a writer, and I work on a full time job as a software engineer on my spare time. I became a fan of Friendship is Magic in 2016, due to influence from friends, and I don't regret one bit. I never thought I'd get into MLP fanfiction, though. I used to write a lot of fanfic way back in the early 2000's for a few other fandoms, and some of my stuff is still available out there somewhere. Most of what I write today is original fiction.
My first creation that could be considered an MLP fanfic-of-sorts is actually a piece of music called Equestrian Modes, a cycle of seven pieces for solo piano (and kazoo), in which every piece is a sort of musical portrait of one of the main characters (because Spike is a main character and don't let anyone tell you otherwise). It's one of my proudest musical compositions, and it's available for listening out there in various streaming platforms.
And then, in 2019, I wrote Pinkie and Her Bane, which is the first story I uploaded here. The inspiration to write it actually came from the story A Second Chance, by Meteorite Shower, which to me is a treatise on how a self-insert OC can be the core of a beautiful, touching story. I loved the story, and started toying with the idea that, if I ever tried to create my own self-insert, it would immediately get in trouble. And that's how the story happened.
I didn't want to fill up the story with technical explanations on how the interactions between OCs and main characters happen, because, after all, the gist of the story is that Dainty Tunes only got himself in that situation because he had the unfortunate fate of being, well, me. His sole purpose of existence was to make a joke, and, well, that eventually led to other ideas, and I just went writing. And I guess I'm here now.
I hope you enjoy the story, as well as the others that should be coming. Dainty Tunes turned out to be quite an adventure for me, and, if you wanna come along, I think you might find it fun. Hope to see you again!
All of my yes.
Well, welcome to the writing community, Fernie! Hope you enjoy your stay!
Eyyyyy nice to see you here man.
