Sex with kids is dangerous, traumatic, and unethical. Nopony currently on Fimfiction is advocating for this.
Bullying is bad. Most people who reacted to PC did so appropriately; criticism is not bullying. There was still plenty of bullying.
Being against evil doesn't make you good. (Hemmingway) This absolutely applies to both of the above.
I'm familiar with bullying. I deal with it on Twitter for being trans. I deal with it here even more. There's a troll in the comments of my recent story, angry that anypony would cast canon characters as transgender. Another user read through and downvoted the deeply personal stories of transitioning in the comments offered by transgender commenters.
PC is one of few people who reached out to me to offer support when I was being bullied. They're very wrong about the dangers of sex with kids, and it's important they understand that, but I have empathy for what they must be going through and I don't hate them.
Several people on Fimfiction continue to attack PC, joke about the suicide, openly celebrate, and make armchair-psychology diagnoses to slander PC and condemn the empathy and character of the good people who intervened to save them.
Be better than this.

A user wrote a story about and adult and a child with feelings for each other and submitted it to the Pride and Positivity event. Many people responded to note (correctly) that actual sex with kids is a very bad thing and is not at all comparable to LGBT relationships.
Other people openly bullied the author until they left a suicide note, and a few people here intervened to prevent the suicide. They didn't go through with it, but they did delete their account and stories.
Most of the people who have commented on this have done so responsibly, but there have been a number of bullies and opportunists.

He's been all over the pride stories. Almost makes me wish fimfic had shadow banning for that kind of unpleasantness.
I struggled with whether or not to say anything about this when it was going on, because I didn't want to be the bully. I knew plenty of other people would be bullies, because of how easy it is to get self-righteous, and I didn't want to be lumped in (fairly or not) with them.
But then I did anyway. I decided that a story promoting IRL pedophilia, especially one trying to use the cover of Pride Month and pretend that it's just another a valid thing under the LGBT umbrella, can't go uncriticized and unchallenged. That's more important.
It really sucks that bullies doing things the wrong way make it harder to engage in valid criticism and repudiation of harmful, predatory ideas.
Some of the people with more skeptical or cynical reactions... I rather don't like to say it, but I can't entirely blame them given the context and sequence of events, even if I do not share their confidence or their views.
Mind you, this does include the people who are behaving as callous, uncaring assholes and bullies, mind you. That group deserves to be told they are wrong and to be condemned.
It's a thorny situation, and the nastier, more extreme things said and done all around make things so much more difficult. You have some jumping to unjustified conclusions about pedophilia and attacking or bullying others. And you also have people getting maligned and called murderers for opposing "foalcon" and actual pedophilic content....

There are people on all sides of this who are making important points that we should be talking about, and others who aren't interested in dialogue with people who disagree with them but instead see this as an opportunity to further their agenda to divide our community and attack those they hate (and I'm referring both to those who support and oppose fantasy erotica when I say that).
I'd like to think if people were more reasonable and willing to assume good faith in others, difficult topics like this could be discussed without us demonizing each other. An open dialogue could potentially help prevent outliers like PC from coming to dangerous and illogical conclusions, but people who angrily dismiss all content or ideas they don't like out of hoof may inadvertently end up shutting down communication which would have allowed those issues to come to light.
Thank you for the good work you do, even in difficult circumstances.
While I broadly agree with you, as usual; on this particular topic I have to disagree. If someone read through the story before downvoting, then I think one has to assume good faith on the downvoter's part. He gave the story a chance. He didn't like it. I have my own issues with the concept of downvoting, but so long as it's one of the standard feedback tools, then I don't think a downvote, per se, should be seen as malicious.

That might be nice, but I think the problem with that is twofold. First, people can organize together in order to dogpile and hide comments they don't like. Second, most people are going to click on the "show comment" button regardless.
The bigger problem is that comment deletion isn't moderated because the mods here refuse to take action against bullying and insults. If you delete comments, especially story comments, people will assume you have something to hide and are just censoring criticism you don't like.
