After much contemplation, I decided to release the epilogue to The Runaway Bodyguard on Saturday Jan 8th. I will release the first installment of the sequel, The Enforcer and Her Blackmailers REMASTERED, at the same time. It says REMASTERED for a reason and you should read it instead of the original. (You might call it a glow up.)
The “sequel” was the original story in the series of stories in the Enforcerverse. As such, Starlight’s history was more than a little vague and some contradictions were noticeable. To an extent, she seemed like a somewhat different person.
The new version preserves her cynical snark and bad ass history, and has her deal with her faults and traumas in a more relevant manner. I’ve tried to keep it so it could be read standalone, so some history gets narrated. I also corrected details in her timeline and to do with her age. She is still uncompromisingly and shamelessly female, and in your face about it.
It will not all be released in one chunk. My pre-reader is vetting all the changes and making sure I am using English grammar, always a plus. This takes time. I’m hoping for 4-5 chapters a week, with the total being 32.
As a bonus, I am writing an alternate ending for the REMASTERED version. (At the time of this writing, that’s additional 8K words and I expect that’s about half of it.) I don’t want to give away too much, but let’s say that when everything falls apart, Starlight will have to use everything she’s got to fight the most dangerous pony in Equestria, even when she knows she’s outclassed. She doesn’t want to make the same mistakes she made with Carne Asada! There may even be friendship lessons.
