    Casuals vs Hardcores (warning: long-ish)

Haven't played a whole lot of Shadow of the Erdtree this evening, because honestly, the raging discourse between the casual and hardcore camps of the Elden Ring playerbase has been far more entertaining over the past 24 hours.

So how to keep this succinct?

I think I'm going to write the rest of the evening.

Worst boss fight of Shadow of the Erdtree so far.

This cheap piece of shit is bad boss design. Period.

Anyone saying otherwise must really love the feeling of their tonsils massaging Fromsoft's scrotum.

Modders, hope you're updating your content with haste.

    PC gaming is freaking awesome.

Not sure if I've ever said that before.

So, I'd say about 98% of my time in Elden Ring has been legit. No mods, nothing. Then around hour 275 I grabbed the Lifesteal Hand of Malenia and started speedrunning with it on NG+8.

Maybe it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off. · 8:19pm Oct 16th, 2022

Ugh. Every time RoosterTeeth starts trending, it's never for a good reason. As someone who went through my teens and young adult years watching their content, I can say, without hesitation, that it's time to shut Rooster Teeth down.

Without a doubt, the founders had to work their asses off to get that company off of the ground; an internet animation company that struck gold years before YouTube was even a thing.

But when your company gets bigger, and you have to hire others, you can't expect employees to come in with that same mindset, because they don't have the same amount of skin in the game.

When you go from entrepreneurs to actual management, you have to change. Sadly, it seems that most of the founders either have not handled that change well, or didn't change enough, or at all. When I take the nostalgia goggles off, maybe the guys who wanted to name their company 'Cock Bite' shouldn't be hiring people if they don't know how to treat them fairly and respectfully. Hell, I still marathon the early RvB seasons, and I'm not even confident that the jokes revolving around Donut would fly today.

Breaches of contracts. Employees make 30% below market rates. Hostile and toxic work environments.

They haven't been independent since Lazer Team. I am absolutely not surprised anymore that Burnie bolted when he did.

They've addressed every single controversy and round of layoffs with non-apologies and sappy sob stories.

Enough.

Shut them down.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you've said here.

These are the exact same reasons why the equally popular RT animated series called RWBY had a serious drop in quality after its second season. While the first two seasons were made when the creator of the series, the legendary animator Monty Oum, was still alive, the creative team went through a massive change following his unfortunate passing in early 2015 and the new showrunners decided to focus on what was popular at the time rather than what the fans liked about the series in the first place.

This resulted in lots of character assassinations, pointless deaths, rushed resolutions, unnecessary additions to the lore, dull animation, lazy fight choreography, and adult subjects that are not executed well in the slightest. Thus, the fanbase is now pretty divided to say the least and can even be considered a toxic wasteland on par with the Star Wars fandom.

I never watched RWBY. I mainly stuck with RvB (only up to Season 10) and the first batch of RT Shorts, which were hysterical.

I see.

Did you also know that Monty was the lead animator of RvB seasons 8-10?

Yeah, knew that because the fights looked just like Haloid.

He was also another one of those "slept at the office" because he absolutely loved every bit of what he was doing, and they thought other animators should do the same.

You see this time and time again with online groups, nowadays I stick with YouTube channels that are mostly independent or do it has a hobby.

I’ve still enjoyed the latest seasons of RWBY, but they are a far cry from the first three seasons. I agree.
Still, Rooster Teeth has been in this downward spiral for years now.

Ya see it all started downhill when they were bought by warner bros and started buying up the smaller groups like funhaus. Then they had targets and goals they needed to meet instead of just creating.

No, I'll wager it started a lot, lot earlier than that.

I never seen RWBY before, but I have seen one of their other shows: Camp Camp(it was a pretty fun show about a bunch of foul-mouthed children, often silly, sometimes emotional)
I remember one of my friends recommended it to me, but I checked out a few episodes and decided that there are too many fighting scenes for my taste.
Big companies all have this kind of management issue, whether they can keep it under control or not decides its fate. Sadly it seems that this is one of them that went downhill quicker after a certain point.
