It's been months since Earth and Equestria made first contact. While the first few weeks have certainly been tumultous—cue the philosophical ramblings, the extra-political debates, and the riots flaming up here and there, not to mention severe culture shock from both sides—those things have died down...for the most part. These days, humans and ponies are just trying to get by, living with each other's dimensions connected.

On an early spring Friday, Lyra Heartstrings takes a trip to Blueglove, a booming city in Grays Harbor County, Washington. Her chosen dinnerplace: William's, a not-so-old diner recently renovated to accommodate Equestrian species and their tastes. She'd heard that Earth diners are not that different from the ones back home, so why not a little of the familiar with a big dose of the new?

And so, she sits at the counter and strikes a conversation with one waiter there: Carter.

For weeks, months even the Storm King had promised her that this very day would be the last one of Equestria and its princesses. He promised Tempest power, even agreed to restore her horn.

But that was not the reason she joined the Storm King. The scars of her past were too deep. They couldn’t ever be removed or undone. The sorrow and loneliness of her past had rapidly transformed into anger and bitterness.

No, she wasn’t there for the spoils that the Storm King offered her. She was there to take revenge on the very thing that scarred her and her life forever.

Friendship would be destroyed, Equestria shattered, and its ponies broken. Tempest Shadow would triumph at last.

A somewhat alternate and darker backstory for Tempest than in the comics. If you’ve read the movie prequel comics, keep in mind that they do not apply to this story.

Readers do not have to read Just Some Flowers to understand everything in the story. However, watching the MLP Movie will help understand my story's scenario.

The Friendship Festival was supposed to be a time of enjoyment and happiness. However, thanks to Tempest Shadow, all of that was burned to ashes and the ponies attending the event were taken as prisoners by the Storm Creatures.

Caramel experience as a slave to a Storm Creature named Groak involved taking a few heavy punches from time to time. But none of that pain compared to the arrival of Princess Twilight Sparkle as Tempest's prisoner. And how he chose to take on the miserable task of escorting the mare he cared so dearly for to her doom.
