At the end of days, Twilight writes her final letter to Princess Celestia, then makes a decision about her future. Inspired in part by the Aviators song 'One Last Letter,' and by the events of the Season 4 premiere.

Twilight Sparkle had an unbreakable bond with her friends. Even after they had disappeared from Equestria, Twilight would always find a way to reach them. The connection they shared had always shone twice as bright as any other star in Luna's sky.

But...what happens when Twilight has to be the one to shatter that bond that they had worked so hard to forge? Why would she take a hammer to the wall of friendship she had tried so hard to create?

Twilight Sparkle needed to forget.

At the Royal Wedding, Chrysalis and the Changelings were revealed to all of Equestria.

But another mask was torn away that day. A mask born for a thousand years. A mask created on one promise. A mask, that has become synonymous, fused, to its bearer.

A mask that when ripped off, causes Twilight, her friends and Luna to question everything they ever knew about the one pony, one very important pony.

At the Royal Wedding, the meaning of the phrase 'Princess Celestia' changes forever.

NOTE: Chrysalis is NOT Celestia!!! That'd be impossible to pull off.

Ponies all over Equestria rejoiced over the defeat of Nightmare Moon. These ponies had no idea about the cost it took to grant them this peace. Princess Celestia had to seal her own beloved sister, Luna, away on the moon. For the first time she is going to have to raise her sister's moon. She wonders if there had been something she could've done to prevent her sister's descent into darkness.

When Luna was banished to the moon, what exactly happened up there? A lot can change in a millenia. A lot can happen. We know what happened down here, but what happened up there, where nopony could see. What happened in the last few decades before her return, when she was just an old mare's tale?

Was she Luna? Was she Nightmare Moon? Or was she something in between?

Could she live with herself if she was?

Okay. Random? Yes. Premeditated Random? Sorta.

What happened in that place where a young mare used to live for thousand years? How did she spent the time in a land of grey rocks?

Luna starts a mental journal, day by day, in order to keep her sanity against the loneliness. Sadly, that doesn't work and she completely loses her mind. Being alone for a long time is far too much for her.
Soon she begin to live weird and nosense adventures with her new non-existent friends, living in a magical land where nothing has a sense.
But her insanity is not as simple as it may look...

This is the long journal of a princess who wanted everything, but in the end didn't get nothing.

Notes: this fanfic contains a lot of nosense scenes, but it's not made to be exclusively random. Everything happens for a reason. Hope you'll enjoy it ^_^

The title, written in italian, is a sort of joke. In italian "Luna" means "Moon", so the title is translatable with both "Journal of the Moon" and "Luna's Journal".

After the other two immortals have humiliated themselves with stories, it's Luna's turn now. What mischievous story does she have cooked up for the audience?

For as long as we can remember, I have lived in my sister's shadow.

We strive to escape this impossible world within which we survive. Since I was naught but a filly, my dear sister has done nothing but eclipse us and force us to remain reclusive. We dream one day to find a pony who sees the same beauty in my night that we do, but the dreams we find are ever filled with her accursed sun.

This is not how we imagined our life. It is our wish to become the light. The only light.

Luna awakens to find herself in a strange, frightening realm filled with churning darkness and eerie silence. With no idea how she'd gotten there, her only mission is to find her way back home. But this place is mysterious, terrifying and even dangerous. Along the way, she finds another pony who somehow found themselves in this strange place: Little Sweetie Belle. Can they survive?
