It's been years since Sunset has had a good Hearth's Warming. After the events of last year, she almost wants to skip the holiday entirely, but her friends think they can do something that might change her mind.

The Cutie Map calls on Twilight and Rarity in order to investigate the town of Hollow Shades, a gloomy village with a fearful populace and an unsettling fixation on dolls. On top of it all, there's a new leader running the show: a mysterious unicorn known as Lady Mari who protects the town in exchange for their servitude.

For some reason Twilight and Rarity can't shake the feeling that they've seen this all before. But that can't be true—this is just another friendship problem, right?

When Luna and Celestia visit Anon's house to check up on him, Luna has the bright idea of wanting to kill Anon. Obviously, Anon has no input in between their arguments and is completely ignored as they discuss Anon's murder.

Two ponies stand together in the rain. One talks, the other listens.

Then the other talks, and the one listens.

“Sometimes, whenever I look at the night sky and see Luna’s array of twinkling stars, I feel so small compared to them. Thinking of how big this world is, and how I’m nothing in it, really scares me; but I still know that my existence could mean a lot to a specific pony, and I hope she will feel the same way one day.“
