There are other puppets out there, animal-like beings controlled by quasi-intelligent trees. Ponies call them timberwolves and know them as nothing but beasts. But what happens if one of those beasts were to gain the intelligence and ambition of one of the most successful hunters in the universe, a human?

This story loosely shares continuity from Split Second: An Eternity Divided. Reading that is not required at all.

On her way to Manehattan, Rarity comes across Natsu Dragneel a Pegasus stallion who is just full of surprises. She soon finds herself in a bunch of crazy and dangerous situations with this Pegasus and his crazy guild.

Rarity has replaced Lucy.

Lost and alone in the Everfree Forest, the showmare known as The Great & Powerful Trixie is beset upon by monsters only to find herself even more lost, and worse still, in a world not her own. Can she find her way home? Is there even anything she cares about going back to?

Perhaps this unexpected turn of events is exactly what the out of luck performer needed to make a fresh start.

Ever since Gilda the griffin came to town, Rainbow Dash has been slacking off from her weather duties even more than usual. Worse still, the pair have been practically terrorizing the townsfolk with recklessly inconsiderate pranks. Raindrops has been trying to take this all in stride, but when one prank goes too far, the temperamental pegasus must take it into her own hooves to teach the pair a lesson.

Equestria is a pocket universe created by a filly Celestia when she took survivors of war amongst gods, her unborn sister and ran the heck away aboard a spelljammer style flying sail ship.

Somewhat hastily made Equestria has it quirks and foibles. The most annoying of which is the lack of certain useful elements such as copper or coal deposits.

It's time to withdraw from isolation and establish trade and diplomatic relations with the multi-verse. And Celestia knows just the six mares to do it.

First Stop? The Aber-Toril system.

Instead of banishing Nightmare Moon, Celestia successfully separates Luna and the nightmare, and both then seal it in the moon, but the stain of both acts are too much for the Princesses and both perish, but not before giving the prophecy of their return. 1000 years later is a changed Equestria, a splintered government, no advanced school of magic, difficult weather patterns, and a looming threat from the Moon. Can the reborn Princesses be found in time? Is friendship still the best hope for a happy tomorrow? The more things change...

The Princesses have sent out summons and requests to all of Equestrias allies the gauntlet has been thrown by an unknown enemy but they will not stand alone. Together the tribes of ponies bovines and all manner of other creatures will stand and face this new foe. the gathering has begun.

This is not the Equestria we are all comfortable with.

It is an Equestria as it could have been. An Equestria which exists during an age of empire. An Equestria ruled by steam and gunpowder, set against familiar foes and alien powers which would unmake reality. Where brave mares, stallions, and peoples not of the pony folk must tame their fears and hold the line.

It is an Equestria as it might have been. An Equestria which exists during an age of exploration. Where steely eyed stallions and mares set forth into frozen tundra, boiling jungles, and fetid swamps just to see what mysteries they contain.

It is an Equestria as it would have been. An Equestria which exist during an age of technology. Where advances in the arcane sciences and natural philosophy promises new wonders and convenience, yet bring forth the risk of social unrest and the toppling of the established order.

It is the Equestria this story is focused on, an Equestria given its own time to shine. It is a strange yet wonderful world, one which is ready to share its secrets.

1000 years ago the Empire fell and with it the defense from Chaos over the years the world has changed, the road to hell is paved with good intentions and the Princess of the sun will make the world safe no matter what gets in her way. The balance must be restored the Dark will return to balance the scales before it is to late.

Nothing is right.

Jake has no idea why he woke up as a pony mare in Equestria. He has no idea why he can't remember what he was doing before it happened, and he has no proof that his human life is even real to begin with. Just his memories. Memories he can't even trust any more, because even the Equestria that he's found himself in doesn't match what he remembers and everypony he meets think he's a unicorn by the name of Skitch-Sketch, who's been right at the side of the Element Bearers.

And then there's that creeping sense of dread. Feelings that he's run from for a long time. And the sensation that some other, deeper doom is bearing down on the planet Equis.

But surely the Mane Six can fix everything....right?
