The following story takes place in the Equestria at War universe. It contains major spoilers for the Dread League.

Rosa Maledicta. The name once struck fear into all who heard it, but now there was no one left to hear it.

Her Black Crusade against the living has just ended. She had done it. Everyone, everywhere, was dead. The world was empty. Now the self-proclaimed Queen of Bones stands atop her tower in Magehold, reflecting upon her experiences in life and unlife. It had taken a lot of work to get here, after all.

Yet...

Despite harboring an intense hatred for the living, she couldn't help but wonder...

Was it really worth it?

Twilight Sparkle is a seeker of knowledge, particularly lost knowledge. So when she finds a question no book will answer, she asks Princess Celestia.

But there's a reason that there are no male alicorns, and the answer is not what Twilight expected.

Twilight Sparkle can't remember her own name, where she is going, or why. She remembers Celestia, and that she loves her.

Maybe that's all that matters.

Twilight Sparkle has obtained the combined power of all four princesses of Equestria. Wielding this power, she confronts Lord Tirek, but the result of their fight is a tie. When he holds her friends hostage, she is forced to make a difficult choice.

All is not lost, however: one force remains in Equestria that could give her the edge she needs to defeat her foe, save her friends, and restore the world. She need only retrieve it from Zecora and place it around her neck...

Now no longer just another normal unicorn, but a Lich, a horror Equestria hasn't seen in ages, Rarity must figure out how to either break this curse, or convince everypony that she means them no harm!

It was all explanation she got before the first experiment, now a month later she can hear the sounds of war emanating from far below, one side is doing their best to free her, for the other side she is merely a tool a way for the king of the dead and harsh lands to the east to gain more influence.

Death. For some, it is a blessing after ravaging disease or a life well lived. For others, it is an inevitability to be feared above anything else. Everyone wonders what happens after you meet the Reaper, but no one knows for sure.

Death. It comes just as surely to ponies as it does to any other creature. A part of life as natural as birth.

However, the Death that comes to ponies is more like a pony than you would expect.

In Equestria, Death has a Cutie Mark.

And with Cutie Marks come Cutie Mark Problems.

So what happens when the Reaper of Souls, the Pale Horse himself, loses touch with his purpose in life---er, death?

He seeks out the three fillies most suited for the job in all of Equestria.

Surely, if the Cutie Mark Crusaders can help so many other ponies with their problems, then they can help Death in Pony Form?

Alternatively titled The Grim Adventures of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
