Flurry Heart went supernova and killed half of Equus.

After that, it was decided that different races shouldn't mingle with each other anymore because it could spell the end of the world if another Alicorn was born from a union of a mixed couple. Just to be sure, all magic was entrapped into 3 crystals. With these two seals in place, the safety of the world was ensured.
