With season 8 mostly over and anything but impressive to me aside from a few isolated episodes--which almost invariably were standalone stories having nothing to do with the greater season arc--I'm starting to come back to a thought I had earlier when I ranted about season 8 a few months ago.

Cozy Glow was just plain evil. A lot of people craved a back story, or a shot at redemption for her, but personally, I think she got oodles of character development just in the behavior that we were permitted to witness.

Chapter 8 is quite the fun chapter and it even tried to prove me wrong about my previous claims that BJ would try to change herself only in the long run. It was nice to see an active decision on her part to try and make her trauma have a purpose. Let's try to keep up this effort and let me give praise where it is due.

I need redemption for the latter half of the season after Episode 20, and this is the only one left I'm even moderately hyped for. Please be good!

A school for friendship huh? Much as that would be a good idea, I don't like the way the ponies preach about friendship and act like it can save you from all troubles. The show itself already warps people into being too overconfident and put too much faith in friendship as it is without thought of potential darkness or despair or unpleasantness.

It's good to be back! Another year, another MLP season. Following on from the (mostly average) movie and all the world building of previous seasons, Twilight and Co. progress into being teachers of friendship, and all the trappings that come with it.
I wasn't there when The Scent of Prey featured back in 2014. I'd fallen asleep and woken up to an ocean of "you lucky bastard!" comments which were sadly deleted after an extensive edit back in early 2015 (the 2.0 edit with Firesight mentioned in the long description) saw the deletion of chapter six, Among The Stars. So my mother was sorting through the few aritfacts she has left from my childhood (she's a pathological anti-hoarder) and she found a story I wrote for a competition when I was 8.
