needs more chapters:derpytongue2:

4494266 I have a little more already typed up, but I was biting my nails in anxiety as to whether people would like this and whether I got the formatting and grammar and such right, so I put out what I got.

4494462 Ha! Actually though, in the classic fallout games, it takes days to recover from broken limbs, but to make up for it, there aren't any cliffs to tumble off of. Not that anybody broke anything here, but I'm sure you know that.

4494564
Well.....I Didn't, I've Played Fallout 3 and New Vegas good games I would love to play the classics though, And before I forget Good Story More People Should Read this!

Original Fallout? :raritystarry: None of the stupid shit from Oblivion with Guns? :trixieshiftright:

4494990 I'm unsure what you mean. There are no guns in oblivion are there?

4496110
It’s a nickname, and not a polite one. Both Oblivion and Fallout 3 were made by Bethesda, both were preceded by unrelenting hype and the occasional flat‐out lie from Bethesda’s marketing division, both used the Gamebryo engine, both feature sub‐par voice‐acting by famous film actors, both follow the same amateurishly executed formula, both feature utterly retarded implementations of level scaling, both feature plot‐holes you could drive a Mack truck through, both piss on prior lore, both were simplified — and poorly at that — for the console crowd, both games’ PC versions were saddled with the same UI as the console version, both had their official forums sanitised of criticism — much of it legitimate and offered in good faith, both suck compared to their direct predecessor. Considering all that it should hardly be surprising that “Oblivion with Guns” became a pejorative.

Very good so far, liking the slices of life.

Keep up the good work my good sir!

Feedback about how you feel about the character development so far would be much appreciated.

Will Twilight be badass in this story?

4502938 She will never come to the point where she likes to kill anything, and only fights in her own defense or to protect others, but in order to survive the story, she must be carved into a skilled killer regardless. You can be sure that after the friendly fire incident, she is putting maximum effort into increasing her gunning skill.

Can't believe I did something so stupid, typo in the chapter title fixed...

+ All characters canonical to Fallout are in character.
+ Twilight is mostly in character.
− The scene transitions are abrupt and leave the story feeling disjointed.
− There’s close to no description of Junktown, the places therein, or the characters they’re talking to.
− Skipping over Doc Morbid’s is going to leave anybody unfamiliar with the exact quest in question confused.
− Twilight not pressing John about the blood is out of character and Junktown’s guards being oblivious to it is a plot hole.
− A good crossover should endeavour to show how things change with the addition of a foreign component but with the exception of Twilight’s mere presence there seems to be little to no deviation from canonical Fallout.

Overall, I get the feeling you’re rushing through this. Rapidly pumping out chapters isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but pumping out chapters largely devoid of compelling content is

4511181 Thanks for the response. Jumpy transition scenes I don't really know what to do about other than to have less. Its hard not to when you have to account for several days worth of travel between locations. I can probably come back to this chapter and make a better description of Junktown. The whole thing with Doctor Morbid at the end is supposed to transition into the next chapter which I am working on now (but taking the time to get stuff right). I suppose the guards definitely should have noticed them freaking out about the blood, it didn't occur to me, lol. And finally, I will try to make some more substantial original content for Twilight, but "breaking her into the wasteland" was sort of a priority, and I do have some fear of "breaking the story" or something in the process. Thank you, I do hope you continue to show an interest. Should put out another chapter by tomorrow.

To those of you who have played Fallout 3 or New Vegas, but not the original games: Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics had been removed for retail purchase for the last few months as of me writing this from anywhere that legally sold new copies. However, just earlier today, an updated version of Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics has been released that should increase their compatibility with newer operating systems and they are once again available for purchase from services like steam. You can now buy the games for yourself, if you like the turn based gameplay.

As for the story, I hope everyone is still enjoying. I got the entire thing worked out in my head now, so hopefully I'll release a couple of chapters a week instead of just one. That said, Fallout 1 is a relatively short game, and I don't see the story being any longer than twenty chapters at the pace I have been using. As always, feedback will be much appreciated.

4571895 Yes, I know exactly what I plan to do. The game is split into two major parts, solving the water crisis, and then stopping the super mutants and their master. In this story, the solving of the water crisis is molding Twilight into who she needs to be. Will not spoil it, but after the water crisis is solved, the plot will deviate significantly, and lets just say that the Master of the mutants singles out Twilight for a special joining the unity because of her unique species and abilities. If you don't know what the unity is, you haven't beaten Fallout, but it will be explained in my story eventually.

I must apologize for taking so long. A couple weeks ago I had a vacation where I had no internet, and when I got back I simply wasn't in the mood to write this, or to even log in. I wanted to continue, but I couldn't actually bring myself to do it. I finally got sick of it and forced myself to sit down and start. Before I knew it, I had finished the chapter, and now I am in the mood to continue writing once again. However, I must also warn everyone that I will be gone for all of next week as well, again without internet.

4658101 Necropolis will be invaded by the mutants 30 days after you retrieve the water chip. That is what in fact happens in canon. I believe that originally the mutants would slowly invade all of the towns in the world, with Vault 13 being the last to be invaded (and possibly cause you to lose) but that aspect did not actually make it into the game and you technically have forever to stop them. I will make the threat of invasion real here though, if I can.
:yay:

This is the last chapter that closely follows the footsteps of the game. Now, most everything that occurs will be my own creation and hopefully be more interesting for people who know the canon story. I'm gone for a week now though, so the next chapter will be a bit.

Not a whole lot happened here, but I'm excited for the next chapter and I've already started it. Probably will post it tomorrow or the day after.
By the way, I just noticed that for the last couple of chapters, I failed to space out the paragraphs. They've been like that for a while and I felt stupid. If you guys catch me doing something like that, I'd like to be told as soon as possible. Edit: Such as leaving off the "Chapter 10:" part of the chapter title... :facehoof:

so a monty python ref is in the game?:pinkiegasp:

4730735 Yep, lol. At least three times actually. You also meet King Arthur and his Knights. Then there is an encounter in the game files but its not implemented, but the mod that I use to make the game compatible with Win 7 also restores things like the encounter where you can help them defeat a giant killer rat with the holy hand grenade. You can also find the holy frag grenade in New Vegas if you have the wild wastelander trait.

Did this somehow turned into fallout 1.5???

4732517 Not really, the whole bridgekeeper scene may be from fallout 2, but as I said, it doesn't affect the plot and isn't really out of place. And since both games take place at least partially in the same area, in theory it would be there in fallout 1 as well. I used it just as a fun excuse to give Twilight protective and nifty looking robes and as something to do to fill time, so don't look into it too much. I don't think I'll pull anything from fallout 2 into this again.

I think I might need to tell/remind people that the Master is straight up psychic, even in the game. When you fight him, he attacks your head with his mind. In my interpretation, his abominable creations serve more or less literally as his eyes and ears in the wasteland, as well as his fist. After all, there's no telling what those messed up centaurs have in them, and there are clear indications in the game that the nightkin can directly hear the Master in their head.

I've been taking care of personal business for the last week, but I am pretty much done with that for now. I'll put out another chapter later this week.

And here I was, thinking that the khan side quest would be ignored. Glad to see it wasn't forgotten. Will the other related quest be seen on the next chapter?

4806187 The thing with Tandi you mean? Yeah, she will be present, but it will not be focused on her. Everything will definitely play out completely different than in the game, which is a good thing if I don't screw up. The great khans have a different sort of relationship with the NCR in fallout 1 and New Vegas, I want to kinda bridge the connection there.

Why did not tell me you where doing a Fallout fic! I love Fallout fics.:pinkiehappy::pinkiecrazy::twilightsmile:

4834418 Cause that would be view begging, lol. Actually, not very many people are even attracted to a Fallout 1 story because most of them have only ever played Fallout 3 or New Vegas. I have tried looking, and I cannot find a single fic set in Fallout 1 that was ever completed. That's not to say that there isn't one out there, but I can't find it. It is good to have a few people watching the story in order to help me finish it, but when I actually do finish it, I will probably go back and touch up some parts and then start putting it into a bunch more groups. Hopefully, lots of people will be alerted about a complete Fallout 1 story, and that might be enough to draw them in.

4834800 I hope so.I love the fallout series I'm no stranger to the first game played it way back in the day.

If I was in brother of steel gather as many BOS as I can and prepare for the assailed on the SM.

5867178 In the game you can actually recruit a couple of their knights to assist you in assaulting either Mariposa or the Cathedral. The mutants invading towns isn't actually a thing that happens in the game though, its just a thing that they wanted to do but, in the end, they didn't, except for in Necropolis.
I really need to continue this story soon. My other stories are stealing all my time. :ajsleepy:

Been rereading this. It really is a gem and hope you continue one day.

6526332 Aw no! I finally come back to the site and now I have people asking for me to finish every story I've got! I am both pleased and overwhelmed at the same time, lol! :twilightoops:

Hey, Fallout 4 is coming. Maybe that's a sign I should continue this.

6550512 :rainbowlaugh: You're the one that decided to be a good writer. :derpytongue2:

But seriously, you're the writer; only you can decide what you update and what you don't. Take your time and update what you feel inspired to update.

That said; this is a good story.

It's alive! It's alive!
Seriously though, even though it has been over a year since I updated this, I have always known how I wanted this whole thing to play out, and I kept meaning to come back to it... eventually. I've been getting really hyped up about Fallout 4 lately, so I guess that spurred me into finally picking this thing back up again. Hope you guys like new chapters. I'll try to make the next update much quicker than this one was.

Goodness, I didn't know that I had so many grammar errors in this thing when I first wrote it. I think I better do some cleaning up...
Edit: This story should now have much fewer spelling and grammar errors. I am shocked at how many there were though. I never would have guessed that I would improve as much as I apparently have over the course of a single year.

6595297 you do realise its been so long i have to re read this right

I was getting ready for work when I saw this and thought: F*ck work! Ima gonna read me some Wasteland!

Anyway, great job with this, but I gotta finish getting dressed. :twilightblush:

"Be glad you are fast enough for that to work!  If we run into anything that can keep up with you-"

"Ha!" laughed John, a little to loud.  "That's likely."

Deathclaws.

Holy hell, its alive! And Twilight has the "Mysterious Stranger" perk! God, I love AND hate this perk, having this SoB not showing of when I fight through a mob of Deathclaws but instead poping out of nowhere against a single Raider!

6595576 I just finished rereading this whole thing myself once I realized I needed to correct my relatively atrocious spelling and grammar. Seriously, I cringed at least once every chapter, and usually more than that.

6595639 Thanks. By the way, you are probably responsible for me doing this at this time. I still think I would have updated it eventually, but your comment probably made it sooner than later.

Glad people are enjoying this once again!
