Georg

Nothing special here, move along, nothing to see, just ignore the lump under the sheet and the red stuff...

Journeys - A series of short experimental stories by Georg covering the process of getting from here to there, and what might be found along the way.

Love Call - When a heart is imprisoned by a magical love that dares not be fed, the only respite that remains is to flee, far, far away to the frigid northlands, where the very magic that makes up Equestria fails and the magical chains that encompass one's heart may be dissolved in the magicless void that remains.

Done as an experiment in Free Verse, placing 22nd in the There Is Magic In Everything writeoff.me contest.

If you would like to know more about Love Call, the reviews it has received, and just why I went about tackling the writing prompt in this fashion, I have a blog post on it here.

a beautiful story

Jokes aside. I like it. :twilightsheepish:

I am not sure how I feel about this.

The story itself certainly makes for an interesting tale, but the free verse makes it difficult to follow it along. If this is an recount of past epic exploits, I would be hard pressed to remember and recall them lacking the traditional mnemonic devices from real-life oral traditions...

No downvote though, just this kind of thing is not my cuppa.

I left some further thoughts on your blog post about this poem; I shan't repeat them here.

I can't claim to know much about poetry but the story, and world building are interesting, I did wonder if it was all to do with the CMC's love poison but no, true love is not magic and cannot be dispelled.

On a somewhat cruder note, Shining Armour, you lucky dog you :rainbowwild:

You're making a collection based on this theme? Neat. I look forward to whatever else you have in store.

Well that was fascinating. Definitely a work that took multiple read throughs to fully appreciate.

I had to reread it, just to see if there was anything I missed that would be revealed with more knowledge. The only thing I don't understand is the magic dead zone bit. What was going on there?

5065249 Magic Dead Zone : Far beyond Equestria's borders is a place where magic simply does not exist (unlike the Everfree, where it does whatever it wants). Chrissy went there in hopes that the undying love she was struggling with was *magical* in nature, and therefore would go away if she went there. As for why it would exist, that's just headcanon.

Thanks. I ended up getting that from your blog post, but for some reason even reading it twice I didn't get the events set properly.

I quite enjoyed that.

I love how imagination dense a story like this can be. It hints at so many other pieces of a long living history un-told, which really brings it to life for me.

The free verse works very well for this, for me it gives the feeling of old epic poems/sagas read in translation. The original has patterns that can't be translated, but you can see hints of it.

Thank you for an excellent story, it made my heart sing.

Seeing more free verse around the site is great, and I hope to see more of this, since it is marked incomplete. By the details in the notes, would I be wrong to guess that with things like 'After Luna' popping up that this is set in the future?
