Well an idea for the story could that Faeron wants to study pony magic, so she and twilight could be trading notes, with twilight may be asking to more... forbidden magic. Maybe a rivalry with one of the mane six or some other pony. Maybe a little rough meeting with Celestia or Luna. An misunderstanding at some point. Just some suggestions.

6863857 Yeah, mods can be such pains, especially if you're playing on a server that starts out with 15 mods, and adds another 80 withing three days... It was a magic mods pack as well, we had everything from Ars Magica 2, Thaumcraft and Witchery. We also had artifacts, and a bunch of others, made it a lot harder to keep everything going.
Personally, I never really learned Thaumcraft, I know most terminologies, but have forgotten or never learned much of the other stuff, mostly the add ons though.
