Oh thank the lord, I thought I was the only guy left that was still writing new prototype crossovers in FimFic. Have an up for re-establishing Prototype relevance.
Okay, so off the bat I had doubts about this story, those being 1, the premise is someone who gets the powers of someone he dressed as at a convention and 2, it's a BiE story. Normally I hate these types of stories but I'm a huge Prototype fan so I decided to give this a shot and... so far so good. I'm not going to rate it before I read more as I still don't like BiEs or "cosplay powers" but I'll read the next chapter when it comes out.

Was wondering when someone would use Prototype for the displaced. The lore of the prototype franchise doesn't have to follow the rules of the 'game'. The came has some pretty cool moves, but it won't be as effective if you were to apply the abilities to 'realistic' application.
What to do when fighting . . .
-in game: strategically use whip, blades, and hammer fists to kill enemies.
-'realistic' application: Why the fuck should i even try? *crunch, consume* *screams of fear* I'm magic proof!!!

The displaced should not be limited to what is available in the game. Like consuming a unicorn and gaining the ability to use magic.

I just finish reading the first chapter. 'Grassy' doesn't have to worry about becoming Alex Mercer, or Blacklight. In the game lore, Mercer did not survive. The virus just took his memories and etc., not what ever made mercer who he was. 'Grassy's' situation has become a combination of mercer and heller. He has a daughter, a living weapon, emotional issues. why can't he get any pony poon?
6004835 Let's just say that right now Jacob thinks he can't get any pony poon because he has become the blacklight virus like Mercer. And because of that sex would be pointless. Of course his situation is like Heller and Mercer combined but he just hasn't put that part of the puzzle together... yet.
He still has his human mindset so it would take many more pony consumptions for pony attraction to take effect, because he aint a clopper. At least in this story it will, if I would actually bother to put that kind of stuff in. Also he doesn't have a daughter since he isn't actually 'Grassy', he's just playing the part of parent out of guilt. You know that right?

I'm guessing the forced mutation with the unicorn was an unexpected upgrade, like how it was when Alex or James got new weapons. I'd call those forced mutations.^_^
Oh, and also, take note.... Big Mac was able to move a house without breaking a sweat, and in the comics, Celestia was able to hoof wrestle Big Mac without breaking a sweat: meaning, offensive wise, they have the power to damage those like him, or some rare ones do. But endurance and offense are two different things, eh? Then again, Rainbow was able to break through a tower of rocks with only getting dizzy. But, Big Mac and Rainbow are exceptionally powerful ponies, so such power isn't common.
And I certainly hope that he's able to speak with the princesses, especially now that there's already a Supreme Hunter to the mix. Hoo boy there. XD
6028719 Wait, I thought Luna was the one to hoof wrestle Big Mac? But yeah only a few exceptions can damage Alex physically, since the average pony can't move a house or be Rainbow Dash.
Though I personally don't see him losing in a test of strength anyway, especially with muscle mass. But if he met his match in that department then I guess if you can't beat them, outlast them
In regards to the princesses.... I can see Celestia, though mad at him for the killings, being understanding since he doesn't know how to control his powers fully yet and he was fighting in self-defense. The fact that he's trying to make up for it by taking care of Colors being browny points there.
...but Luna will likely have to be held back by her sister till she can point out those facts to her, considering her emotional nature. Then again, from what I've seen, Luna seems bipolar sort of. When on the job, she's quite serious about it, and is a lot more carefree off the job.
As for his new mutation.... well, when Alex gained new mutations, they weren't the same as what he consumed. They were based upon them, altered to fit him. Humans tend to be able to use magic from their hands when they're magic users, so perhaps the mutation could give enlarged unicorn horn spikes as his arms or something.
Then again, this is a Displaced. He can likely be more.... creative with Alex's powers, if he thinks of it. Like say, blade arm on one arm and whip on the other. Or perhaps altering his legs with part of the upgrades, since Alex never did such. Or even double upgrades, like double shields to make for a battering ram while held together, or double blade arms or double whips. Even if the whips became entangled, wouldn't be a problem, since Alex was able to turn into a puddle and reform, so he could likely turn his entangled whips into mass and reabsorb them without problems. Perhaps even make a new wrecking ball sized morning star weapon in the process or something.
Then again, all those possibilities are limited by what he can think up, eh? Creativity is key there.^_^
Oh, and if he gains unicorn horns as arms(only much larger), they'd be perfect for not only magic, but good for melee as well. Though, he likely can't use both at once on one horn-arm. Seems putting pressure on a unicorn horn disables magic by disrupting the mana flow. However... if he dual wields them, that's not a problem. Could stab with one, and use magic with the other.

And yeah, it was Celestia, not Luna, that hoof wrestled Big Mac. Luna was the one to kiss Big Mac, though he seemed against it. Yet, he still went on the Ferris Wheel with her.... I think, as my headcannon for it anyways, he didn't want to break her heart with the fact that he already had a special somepony(Cheerilee), being loyal to her. ...though I see him good with Fluttershy and Cheerilee both, I think that Cheerilee was the one fortunate enough to get first dibs with him.XD But, that likely won't be something to deal with in this fic, so no worries there. XD

With the 'unicorn' mutation and knowledge to use magic from several different unicorns should make him a formidable force. If enough understanding about magic, he could probably use is magic in any of his forms, not limited to just being a unicorn. If he has trouble using magic in other forms, he could just create a foci or focus. Like how unicorns use their horns, others could components to cast spells like Verbal, Somatic, Material, Focus, Divine Focus. Heck, he could probably just channel or 'will' magic at someone.
