When the rest of her friends are called away to help in Appleoosa, Pinkie decides to invite Maud to a relaxing week at Horseshoe Bay. However, when tragedy strikes a seasick Maud, we are shown a whole different side to the stoic pony.
This was my entry to Everfree Northwest's Iron Author competition. Contestants were given two hours and three thematic elements (a voyage, a mask, and a shining moment) to create an original story. Mine took second place
Very nice and heartfelt little story. It's sad, but not tear out your heart sad. Some people must miss the tragedy tag, but you got what I feel sad should signify on this site.
This was the best out of those I judged. Pity more people haven't seen it.
6050532 Thank you, that's definitely more what I was going for. I didn't feel tragic really suited the subject matter, unless I stopped the story right at the break in the chapter, something I actually did consider doing, but I didn't have my "shining moment" yet.
6086114 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm still fairly new to the mlp fanfic scene and I had a ton of fun with iron author, and everfree in general, so I can't say I'm upset this isn't more widespread. With all the compliments this story has received, I'm fairly confident my future writing will have a bigger audience
One question: If Pinkie knows that the spell works great, then Twilight must have tested it out on somepony. Who was it? Is there some dark tale of a spell that causes seasickness, or am I just over thinking it? Which character was it? I have no clue.

These are profound questions that most definitely should be asked. Who indeed was the test subject? What am I hiding? The world may never know
