A young mare from a family of refugees leads a remarkably average life at Cloudsdale Flight School. Her outward image of stoicism and maturity subconsciously hides a tight pack of little frustrations and miseries that threaten to overflow at any moment. Then a pirate tiger boy, hailing from science and outer space, fitted in flying power armour, guitar'd her in the frontal cranium, literally releasing her demons to wreak havoc into the world, for fun and profit and glory and because why the heck not. A wacky, bittersweet coming-of-age story ensues. What does it take, to be an adult, in a land where adults act like children? What is "getting a proper childhood" worth? What does it mean, to take responsibility for one's actions?

So, this was intended to be a simple crossover between FLCL and Friendship Is Magic, but it didn't turn out the way I'd expected. I swear, these characters have a life of their own...

Interesting, I look forward to reading more

Its nice to see that your not letting the fic rules confine you into telling an original story. I look forward to what else you write up.

The worst thing about most crossovers (aside from most of them being atrociously written even from a technical point) is that they tend to just be "_______ but with ponies instead of people." Despite having originally wanted to go that route, based on your description, I urge you to just let the story go where it takes you. People already know how FLCL goes, so it's nice that you're letting yourself be a bit more original than that. Best of luck!

Well, my models for how a successful crossover works are "Shinji and Warhammer 40K" and "Fallout Equestria". Not that I'd want to compare myself to either Charles Bhepin, KKat, or Somber, but I try to follow their example to the best of my limited capacity.

Oh, and I do take suggestions. No guarrantee whatsoever that they'll make it to the story, and maybe a suggestion will trigger a line of thought that will end up with something entirely different, but they're still very welcome.

Wow :pinkiegasp:. I really didn't expect to come out with "Atomsk"'s backstory so soon, but once I'd started I couldn't stop myself :pinkiehappy:. It came out kind of huge, but then again this is Atomsk we're talking about. Influences include Hitchiker's, Gurren Lagann, Discworld, Lupin the Third, Ikigai, Mass Effect, Warhammer 40K, One Piece, Batman the Brave and the Bold, Ghostbusters, and "Thirty Hs", among others. Another thing I didn't like about this interlude is that it's significantly bereft of ponies save for one instance. I promise there will be more.

All of the aforementioned works deserve my most enthusiastic recommendation, but I have an especially soft spot for Thirty Hs. Follow the link to find out all you need to know to make an informed decision on whether to read it or not. As for me, I couldn't possibly comment.:scootangel: If you are allergic to strong words, you can read this MLP fic, which is heavily inspired by it, but somewhat Lighter And Softer.

Please don't hesitate to tell me if I went overboard with the music metaphors.

is anyone else getting the 'coke bottle glasses, but manages to make it look good while kicking ass' vibe with this one? either that or the 'hu- er... pony calculator?'

either way, this is an interesting read, keep it up.

867968 I don't really get this post, but thanks, I guess.

I find myself cackling incessantly as I read this. Very good.
