You know, the more I hear the word "moist", the more it doesn't bother me. Like, moss or grass is moist when it's been rained on or there is high humidity, towelettes for cleaning your face can be called Moist Towelettes, and so on and so forth. Ha. Moist.

Yeah, I know what you mean. There are sounds that can make anyone shiver or shudder, but words, not a lot of them get much reaction out of me unless they're funny.

It's just a weird quirk, the way it sounds out loud seems to bother people.....its rather weird really.
This is why the rule about silly putty was put in place I take it (guessing playdough came the year after.)

Some people have an instinctual negative reaction to certain words, especially when presented without context. 'Moist' tends to be the most common of these.
Just Google 'unpleasant words moist' and you should get at least one or two articles explaining further.
