It has been 300 years since Celestia vanished through the efforts of cultist separatists, and Twilight Sparkle formed the Wardens of Harmony to force the Everfree Forest to spread in order to balance out the world, as well as defeating the monstrous Nightspawn that came from the darkness.
In the walled city of Canterlot, Comet Strike is a unicorn trapped by circumstance, spending day after day living in a bubble of tedious classes and strict rules. All this changes when Comet discovers plans for an attack on Canterlot and helps to foil it. Nightspawn, thought to be wiped out, resurface. Set on a dangerous adventure, Comet and her friends must build alliances and keep friendships to find the Elements of Harmony and save Equestria from the eternal night and a treacherous foe.
(Crossover is a loose world and concept merger with that of the Dragon Age video games. Teen rating is for mild violence and very mild gore. )
I have no clue why that one thumbs down is there. This story is pretty awesome. Though I did notice that whenever there's a conversation, the format goofs up. I don't know if you had intended it to do something different and FimFiction's layout just mucked it up, but whatever the case, it can be easily fixed.

Edit: Just read through all 14,000 words. Like, seriously dude, I want that kind of talent. I hope you don't mind but I kind of promoted your story to the small followers that I have. Anyway, can't wait for this to continue.

You have absolutely no idea how sad you made me just now. When I saw "crossover" and "New Sun" I got so damn excited, and then when I read the description and saw "Dragon Age", I got so let down I can't even words.
I kid; I've added this to my read later list, and as soon as I finish my playthrough of DA:O, I'll read through it. Setup looks good, and the quick glance of the first chapter I did was promising.

I just borrowed a few world elements and a few story beats to mash up with Equestria, but it would have felt very dishonest not to call what I did a crossover, though it's not a crossover in the traditional sense, I guess. And I was thinking of The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolf. It's a damn fine series, if you like dark future-past type stories.
