The day of the Rainboom affected more ponies than just the canon Mane Six. Almost ten years later, Princess Celestia sends her personal student Twilight Sparkle and one such affected pony to Ponyville. Meeting four others, they must work together to achieve what Princess Celestia could not: defeat Nightmare Moon and save the long-lost Princess Luna from the monster she was trapped within.
It's also a shameless excuse for me to partner Twilight with five of my favorite ponies. Welcome to the Differentverse.

Hey there. I have to say, so far, this looks to be a pretty intriguing story. I like how you're including obvious, significant differences while still staying faithful to the original's SPIRIT. I'll very certainly be looking forward to more, but will also be willing to be patient.

So far, we have Twilight and Moondancer, who I believe will be Magic and Honesty respectively.
I'm going to guess that Marble is Kindness; Scootaloo is Loyalty; Derpy is Laughter; and Coco will be Generosity. We'll see how close I am in the coming chapters.

8062668 In-universe, Twilight's five companions were each affected by the day of the Rainboom in different ways. Coco became a part of the Apple family because of a chance encounter on that day, and that's all I can say for now. (The show has only talked about her childhood in one episode, "Made in Manehattan", which had her as part of the Midsummer Theater Revival when she was younger - that left a lot of leeway when it came to creating a background for her.)
The out-of-universe reason, of course, is that she's one of my favorites and I wanted her in Ponyville to become part of the group. So I made it happen.

I love how the differences in canon were due to each of the ponies being affected in different ways and, in turn, affecting other ponies in a positive way. That is a brilliant touch. Also, very good job on all of the exchanges, characterizations, emotional content and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I'll definitely be looking forward to more, but will also be quite willing to be patient.

All I can say is, once again, great job on this chapter. Once again, all of the exchanges, emotional content and future chapter set-up are splendidly done in all the right places. I particularly liked Coco's reason for helping and Derpy at least TRYING (understandably) to keep Scoots and Dinky safe even if it only worked with Dinky . Hi there. Splendid job on the second-to-last chapter. The action, characterizations, background info, Element demonstration/assignment and epilogue set-up are all brilliantly done. I'll definitely be looking forward to the final chapter, but will quite respect that real world concerns have to come first.

There's one thing problem I have with this chapter. There was no moment of realization and/or surprise. What I mean is when the shards started glowing the only one surprised was Nightmare Moon. Twilight then went into her speech about how they represent the Elements. Twilight had no moment of realizing that they were the Elements.
Other than that, I liked this chapter.

8075022 Actually, it's not said outright, but Twilight had begun to recognize the truth just moments before - both here, and in canon, her moment of realization came when her friends stepped up to support her. And when the shards began orbiting them, she fully understood and grinned, just as she did in the battle with Sunset Shimmer in the first Equestria Girls film.

8075060 Yeah, but we saw Twilight have that moment of realization when we saw the spark in her eyes. It wasn't until that moment that the shards started to glow. And after Demon Shimmer tried to blast the girls of the map, Twilight and co. still had that moment of shock that they were still alive before Twilight realized what happened.

The difference between here and canon, is that NM drags (teleports) Twilight and the Elements to the tower where the showdown occurs. When the girls come to rescue her, that's when she realizes both the importance of friendship and what the last element is. Here she's not dragged off to the tower, so that 'ah-hah' moment is missing.
8075768 Keep in mind, this Twilight already does recognize the value of friendship (she got some sense knocked into her years before, during Moondancer's little moment in class) - unlike canon Twilight, who completely ignored it until that very moment.

Excellent job on this epilogue. The general story wrap-up and set-up for future stories were, of course, quite well done. I also really liked Twilight's introduction her and Moondancer's new friends to Celestia and Cadance. The "I Choose To Stay" scenes were also pretty darn good not just for Twilight and Moondancer, but for Marble too . At any rate, I'll definitely be looking forward to more stories in this universe, but will also be quite willing to be patient.

This is a nice story but for an alternate version of the start of the show it was a little short and I would have liked it to be longer. It's obvious to me that Scootaloo's mother is Daring Do given the descriptions that were given of her and this isn't the first story that has Derpy Hooves and Daring Do being sisters.
Its kind of embarrassing if I can see this story becoming a series and being better then Hasbros version XD
