Goldfur

I'm a science-fiction and fantasy buff, creator of the Chakat Universe, and now dabbling in the MLP:FiM universe. I love a good story!

And I was just about to go to bed, too.

OH WELL GOT SOME PONY WORDS TO READ.

A great start as usual Goldfur cannot wait for more along this story line. Maybe you can write those other thoughts as a small anthology to the main story line. Looking forward to more.

Nice eulogy to Rainbow Dash.

I am willing to take what ever you give us. The one point I do want to see sometime is Filx's return after being turned to stone

Daring Do <3

I really liked this episode, and can't way to see the next one! Even if it's a long ways off it'll still be worth the wait because House Path is already awesome, but toss Daring Do into the mix? This should be awesome!

like Chryssy's unicorn look. I would like to see her dealing with that past she has. like somepony hating Chryssy finding out the truth.

Question Goldie, are there now two sets of EOH?

To be honest, I believe that Twilight's friends would be every bit as immortal as her thanks to their links to the power of harmony. I know in your universe there's not so much ponies linked to harmony as there are ponies who represent aspects of harmony, and thus are capable of summoning that power, so my belief doesn't mean much here.

8082626 Well not as of this Chapter. Twilight is still around obviously, but there was Twilight and friends then Destined and friends at the end of "Quantum Gallop"

8082626
If you're talking about the objects, yes, although the originals stay on the Tree of Harmony.

If you're talking about the Element Bearers, there could be more. "Quantum Gallop" showed that under the right circumstances, more Bearers could come into being. If you reduce that to being Avatars of Harmony like Sunset Shimmer was in "A Different Perspective", there could be lots more.

this reminded me of that story, "the quest", where an alternate reality Twilight actually captured her friends' souls and put them into pocket universes connected to statues of them. she could still talk to them that way...

8083125 okay it was soundling liek the mane 6 stopped beign Avatars when Destine's group went EOH.

"this town must oozing positive emotion for you to eat."

I think you may have missed out a 'be' there. :twilightsheepish:

"Scootaloo made herself comfortable a chair"

Is it just me, or does this not quite make sense?

Lovin this so far. Can't wait for more! :pinkiehappy:

This chapter really spoke to me.

- This is exactly what Rainbow would have wanted. No tears at her funeral. A rainbow to remember her by. I expect the service would have been followed by a party recounting how awesome she was. Pretty much, that's the party we had for my father. Maybe for sentimental reasons, this was one of my favorite chapters Goldfur has written.

- Only alicorns get to be immortal in the MLP universe, and no one can accuse Goldfur of scrimping on those.

- Generational change is essential for us mortals. The non-alicorn element bearers qualify as that.

- In storytelling that spans more than one generation, transition has to happen.

- What would Celestia be doing right now if she spent a day mourning each generation of ponies that she loved? More and more of her time would be lost to her new ponies. This chapter tells that their memory will always live on in the immortal beings that loved them is the only practical solution, and the only one that they would have wanted.

It only just occurred to me now, but aren't the CMC just a little old to be STARTING a family? I mean, in the show they're currently fillies, by the time Quantum Gallop came about they would have been full-grown mares and would have been at the age to start a family.

By this point, another 20 years would have gone by, and their children would be in their teens or fully grown. Don't mean to nitpick, but it seemed like something that needed to be pointed out.

8088320 You don't have to start having children when you're in your twenties, you know? And I'm one of those who ascribe longer lifetimes to MLP ponies, so fifty isn't so bad. Then again, I could have saved myself a lot of trouble just giving them some half-grown children, I suppose. It's not critical to the story.

I just realized this probably means that Crystal had a Crystalling when Shining and Cadence got back to the Crystal Empire. I wonder what that did to the Crystal Heart. Hmm.

8088320 I was thinking the same thing myself about their age. Not that some folks don't have a family later in life, but a curt age check/graph/chart might help out some. I'm sure the Princess of Friendship (and Books) can help with that.

I had a re-think and amended the section with the CMC's foal. Now it's their third foal, and their first two are at school. The idea is that now that they're nearly full grown, Bloom felt it was time to have another foal or two. And no, they're not too old because I ascribe to the theory that MLP ponies live well into their century, Granny Smith is the major justification for this theory.

8093485 No worries, Goldy. My little brain-raccoon with an abacus just got easily distracted by random numbers is all.

Also, I can totally see ponies living a long time. Not the 500 year old theory that folks point to with Pinkie planning a party for her parents' 500th anniversary. I think that's just Pinkie ADHD going overboard. I'm sure if she was Batman, she'd have planned how to stop ALL the Justice League in case they turned evil and what sort of party to throw them at the "Welcome to Jail My Former Bestest Best Friends Forever Except No Longer Because You're Evil!" (WtJMFBBFFENLBYE) Party. :pinkiecrazy:

Good thinking. although instead of immortal, they might just have gotten an extended life. the chapter doesn't mention just HOW old RD was when she passed on.

This one better be happy, the last one made me cry.

:fluttercry::raritycry::pinkiesad2: Twi's gonna be pissed that she missed this...

That was sad, but good job.

Path got REALLY lucky in life didn't he.

Darn it Goldfur you had me crying

8099158 i don't know that if I'd call Path lucky. While seeing things change over would be fun as Pif pointed out you have to watch everyone you love and care about die not once but over and over. I can see Why an immortal would reinvent themselves every so often l

This is briliant and touching :fluttercry:

"You were supposed to outlive me." Comes to mind with this chapter. And I guess we now officially know whom Destined was talking to in the other story.
Also...:raritycry:

*Deep Bow* Well Done, Very Well Done!!!!

But will Twilight be told about him being in the Hive Mind now?

A very well written, but also very sad chapter. You're good at writing those scenes...almost too good. Whenever I re-read Life's Dream I often have to skip the last chapter, as I'm often in tears reading the end. But very good story, though I thought Free would be around longer than that. :raritycry:

8099333 He gets to stay with Twilight, Free is in his head, And there is still Luna. Oh and he is regaining his magic. I say that's lucky.

8099808

I thought Free would be around longer than that.

I was wondering just how long a changeling queen should live. Although I settled on around three centuries, it could just as easily have been four. Whatever I decided, Free's life had to come to an end sometime.

I'm glad you liked the episode though. At least he'll still be showing up in Crystal's Wanderings.

8099881 But now that we're moving forward in time...will there be Chakats???

:pinkiehappy: Yes, will there? Huh? Huh? Huh? Because chakats are just so super duper cuddly, and everypony would just like them real much and - oh, maaaayybe they'd be a bit afraid at first, but then they'd really like them, and hug them and be best friends with them and-and-and...and all ponies could throw a real big party with a sign saying "Welcome Big Kitties to Ponyville" and they'd be like 'wau, those ponies really know how to party' and...

;-)

8099808
Aww, don't cheat yourself of that last chapter, they're good tears.

If there's something I admirer Goldfur for, it's his skill for writing family, no matter what form, shape or origin they might have.

8100204 I agree. But seeing characters die that you've cared for through a whole story line is always sad.

Bravo, Goldfur. *sniffles* Bravo...

Beautiful chapter, Goldfur, just beautiful.

Welp, Path got the answer to his longevity at last. This was such a touching chapter... so sad, yet at the end, it was really bittersweet.
I have a feeling that Twilight will be spending a lot of the time in the hive mind now.

That really got me. Free has been one of my top favorite characters.

I'm not crying. It's... liquid pride.

Damn. I gotta stop reading these at work... :raritycry::applecry::fluttercry::pinkiecry::rainbowcry::twilightcry:

According to the Greeks, your life consists of three stories: you are born, you fall in love, and you die. Free has had the privilege of having all three of his stories told well.

Great story. My only problem is every time I hear about Luna's "Night Court", I keep thinking that at some point Pony John Larroquette is going to show up.

8126472 I was too young to understand or be interested in that show, but awsome reference!

8126472
I loved that show. And yeah, occasionally I recall that when I write about Luna's Night Court.

8126492 it was a fun TV show. It was a comedy and covered that point in time when NY was changing from how it was all sleazy and stuff in the 70s to how it is now where Time Square is all high-end commercial stuff.

Check out some of the clips on youtube if you ever get bored. There's some hilarious stuff.

this reminds me of a scene in Estee's story, "a mark of appeal": the first time Luna held Night Court, many of the petitioners were ponies whose requests Celestia had already rejected-for good reasons!
