It's guy's night and Spike, Big Mac, and Discord are playing Ogres & Oubliettes as usual...except they're not playing in the castle, and Spike seems upset about something. It's up to Discord to help Spike understand what he saw and how he can come to terms with it.

An amusing idea would be to have something just like this happen and Discord, in a show of solidarity with Spike (or maybe just because it gives him a case of the giggles ) decides to show the girls what it's like from the other side. Both of them get traumatized, Spike gets a sense of dark vindication, and Celestia bursts in to find out what the hell is going on just for Discord to say "Oh nothing, I'm just helping the girls out with a new friendship lesson."
I think it would be a funny and surprisingly thoughtful way to show Discord's overprotective nature when it comes to his friends while also giving Spike some much needed catharsis from RariTwi. Because seriously, canon tortures Spike enough without adding on RariTwi.

You don't think he would extend that to his other friends as he... you know, actually starts to get a few? I mean, yeah, I get your point, I just always kind of assumed that the main reason Discord is still a dick to most other characters is because they're still dicks to him for the most part. Up until some of the newer episodes Fluttershy was literally the only character to even try and develop a meaningful relationship with him.
I read this fic with some trepidation because I hate seeing the little guy needlessly hurt, but actually I feel this is a win for him. His relationship with Rarity has been going nowhere and after following her around for years it has been getting a bit creepy. Probably best to yank the bandage off quickly in situations like this and get him looking for greener pastures.
Spike should get some payback by do something similar.
