WOW!
This is epic and creepy with a strong Lovecraftian vibe. I love the way you use your words to paint a vivid and unsettling picture. My only real complaint is that the ending ties things up a bit too neatly; it's a bit less satisfying for Limestone's story to suddenly not be Limestone's story anymore because her parents are secret demon hunters. But by that point I was hooked
Very strong and memorable story overall!
A really good story. I love it.

Glad you liked it! Yeah, the ending's too nice now that I gave it a second read. Didn't mean for her parents to look like demon hunters either! I was merely setting them up for another upcoming tale!
Just a heads up, Tale III won't be as creepy as this one was. There would still be some otherworldly presence involved, though it wouldn't take center stage this time. The track it's based on — veat — might give you an inkling of what to expect. Next horror-centric tales would probably come with the tracks Fa, lev low, pcp and maybe ioloi.

Very Lovecraftian, except no one ended up sharing a room with Screw Loose. Or eaten by metal cicadas. Hooves up on this one!
So what's the connection with the previous story? Just that they're both based off the same soundtrack?

At the moment, yep.
There's basically a whole overarching background narrative planned that gets kickstarted by Tale III and really only starts moving by Tale V. Nevertheless, I did intend for them to work as standalone stories, so it's not required to read everything in the series to enjoy them by themselves.
