I LOVED IT, though I can't wait to see Starlight get it in the end, capturing the Mane 6 and turning them into Sex Slaves. Oh when the other Princesses or Discord find out what she did to them boy is she going to be in DEEP SHIT, I would think being turned to stone would be too good for her, even being sent to a cell in Tartarus would be too nice for her too. Now that bit at the end where Twilight's spell did work and she is going to free herself and her friends later shows she had something planned that would let them get away from Starlight, I still think Luna should be able to sense them in some way, maybe Starlight since she could fall asleep and was thinking of how she made the Mane 6 into sex toys, that would get Luna on her I bet, after all she is able to see the dreams of other ponies and if suddenly one of the Princesses go missing wouldn't they try to search for them in some way.
Though if Twilight and her friends are able to be returned to normal later I do hope she studies this spell that was used to make her into a sex toy, that way she could use it against Starlight if she ever shows up again if she gets away but leaves everything behind at the village, also what about the other ponies in that village, what happened to them. Did Starlight turn all the ponies of that village into sex toys like she did the Mane 6 or just a select few of them and let the other ponies play with them then?

The more, the merrier! I remember the Chainsman Institute, though I haven't looked at the site in ages. All the bondaged girls were fun, but I often missed that final step where they either start doing something overtly sexual or brainwash them into obedience. They always hinted they would do that.
Dazzling revenge could be fun! They need to be very careful, however, cause a lot of that machinery will capture them just as readily as any other female! Plus, they are not actually human, they might set off some safety protocol left over. For that matter, depending how Equestrian magic works, the Rainbooms, Juniper Montage, Gloriosa, and Sci-Twi all had magic permeate them. They might not be fully human anymore either.

So the collars aren't disabled, instead, they're controlled by Twilight herself which is about as good as it'll get if she has to keep them on-- removing them would alert Starlight after all. The latter half of her spell is still unknown which makes it almost impossible to figure out how she could escape with no way to cast new magic or limbs to use things... well, aside from their mouth. The statement about her throat makes me wonder what she swallowed and kept there hidden away. Considering their animated rubber toy status (a large sleeve apparently) I assume Twilight could keep the ring tucked away until she can strike: If she can give Starlight a "hornjob" she could wait until it's in her mouth before slipping the magic inhibitor ring over Starlight's horn to cut off her magic. Since you cannot remove a ring on your own horn (wouldn't be very effective), no one has hands besides her, and she can't use transformation magic to undo anyone's limbless form, she's screwed. Not sure what to do next at this point as it's a stalemate and the "mystery" spell Twilight cast could be the key to turning the tables on Starlight.

I believe the idea was to turn the girls into living onaholes [full torso plus head]. Can't remember the japanese term for removing all the limbs to get to this point however-- they have terms for all the fetishes in their doujin. But to answer the question, almost always, the head stays on. In the rare case it's also removed, it's for the separated-limbs-still-felt fetish just like the image you linked of Applejack using portals.
While I'm fairly certain the girls won't get addicted... er, for long?... it'll still spoil them for any conventional sex in the future, restricted to their mortal limits. Of course, having an alicorn who's the best magic user in the world certainly helps. I'd bet all the bits that Twilight replicates the transformation spell as soon as she gets home! Ok, I actually had to laugh at their MacGyver solution the rocky hill. Assuming they actually make it back to the Princess, couldn't a more powerful magic user break this "toy" enchantment? And if Celestia can't do it, yikes, I don't know of any more experienced or powerful mage.
On an aside, I hope they get back to Starlight in a day or two. If she's unable to free herself and no one's going to check on her... well, that could be a potential "bad ending" for her the longer it drags on. (Yeah yeah, I know, "Git' yer filthy science outta my fantasy you uncultured swine!")
