Poor Amethyst.
A tragic end for poor Amethyst. It isn't the first... nor will it be the last.
So Twilight and Starlight are Occultists? ... You know, that makes a surprising amount of sense when you think about it.
Heartbreaking. Offering a number of answers and helpful questions, but heartbreaking.
Also, timely Twilight. And one with a rather ironic history. Imagine how Starlight would react of she learned the time battle would result in her befriending Twilight as collateral damage...

Val Kilmer would say: Poor soul, she was just too high strung. I’m afraid the strain was more than she could bear.

Yes, occultists, for many reasons.

I was actually pretty upset when I killed Amethyst off.
The irony wasn’t lost on me. It’s weird how it made a certain kind of sense that they would wind up as study buddies.

twi and star.
occultists extraordinaire.
That should be Shining there, methinks.
Well I guess Amethyst isn't getting that promotion at all eh? It's probably for the best. She was too high strung the weight of the moment was too much for her. She was no daisy.

Hmm, I think things went a little weird from when the wyrd reconstruction was used. Amethyst should have almost no blood loss (the intestines and belly skin don't carry much blood), and should have enough adrenaline to stay conscious even with a hell of a lot of pain, so she really shouldn't pass out as it happens...and only her torso is being repaired, so that should really've been the only part to explode; basically, it would make more sense if her belly inflated with energy suddenly as it was put back together, then she screamed as it burst, and a moment later looked in horror, passing out on finding that nothing any longer connects her butt and rear legs to her head, shoulders, and front legs.
A real tragedy as well, at least from a perspective with modern surgery techniques, is that a pony in Amethyst's condition prior to wyrd reconstruction...could almost always be saved with the amount of time they had (in fact, one of my teachers said this happened to a buddy of theirs when they took a tumble skiing onto a fence, woke up to have to shoe away a dog that wanted a taste). The story seems to act as if there was no hope, but I'm not convinced that they didn't at least have some doctor who could've had a 1 in 3 shot at it, which would really hit Twilight hard if she knew.
