YOU GUYZ :derpytongue2:

Deep. Very deep, very emotional, very subtle. Nice job.

Is this somewhat of an allegory as to what happens when G4 is cancelled? Or something different?

Manly tears.
:fluttercry:
Okay, not so manly.

Its not a direct shoutout to that, though I suppose it could apply.
Really, this was written from the old MLP-WTG prompt of 'Technology', and I wrote it out to say what would happen once ponies evolved to the point of not needing magic anymore, to the point of where we humans are. I made it vague-ish as to leave it open to interpretation, but I pretty much implied everything directly anyway XD
(In the end, Celestia teleports the little group of Ponies, Gryphons and a baby dragon off to a new world at the cost of her own life, seeing as Equestria was no longer the magical place that she loved :c)

D'aww. I would hope that as Equestria moves further and further into the future, it maintains the same vibe of friendliness and closeness. But, as is evident these days, sometimes progress heralds some unforeseen consequences, especially in the way of social ideals. I guess that's just how it is.

...or I can imagine future Equestria like a utopian 50s America, where everybody's peachy keen and happy! Yep, think happy thoughts. Happy thoughts...

... the 5th of november...

That was something right there. That's the feeling of an age passing, never to be seen again. In this case, it appears to be for the worse.

Exactly what I wanted to convey - The End. (With just a spark of hope for a better tomorrow hidden in that last line )

For that matter, it can be seen as a nod to any number of dystopian human fables in which the only solution is to get out of town or across the border or off the planet entirely. Whatever the circumstances, it's a powerful image, and it's deployed effectively in this story. "Horribly vague"? Only to the reader who's not really paying attention.

Well, for America at least, the 1950's weren't an innocent or happy...:applejackunsure:
Rosie the Riveter had just had her job taken away and was being told to get back in the kitchen.:facehoof:
Jim Crow and the Klan were alive and happy, making hypocrites and monsters of us all...:fluttercry:
Joe McCarthy's "House Committee on UnAmerican Activities" was in full swing as a modern witch hunt...:derpytongue2:
Everyone was terrified we were going to annihilate ourselves in nuclear warfare. :raritydespair:
Solution: tell schoolchildren they'll be safe if they duck under their desks.:pinkiecrazy:
Oh, and Ronald Reagan was acting in old west movies.:rainbowhuh:

That was actually the first thing that came to mind when I saw the title. It works well even without the reference, though, considering the story content.

The end kinda reminds me of Okami... not sure why...

1094211 the gun powder treason and plot...
