FYI, I wrote this while REALLY drunk and tired. So it needed a lot of sober revisions.

My first comment never went through, so here is a reduced version of it... While I enjoyed the story and the plot it conveyed, it felt almost like a copy pasted story with edits put in to make it pony. Not that I am complaining as if this is what it was, then it was done very well. The rhymes throughout seemed a little off based on the story and just seemed tacked on but after a while i actually enjoyed them even if they were extremely creepy. I am not great at drawing conclusions but I can guess at what exactly happened and I am horrified. That letter at the end from Sparkle felt very forced coming from her, but I guess that is to be expected since this is no friendship report. There was something else but it slips my mind at present and I will probably mention it later. All in all great story, I will definitely be on the lookout for more if more is to come.

The Haestan (Ancient Alicornian: Day Lords) were basically god-like beings who made the Tant, Metal Weavers, and other creatures to battle the Drakkan'Mirr (Ancient Alicornian: Lords Of Despair & Darkness). You might be seeing Metal Weavers in the future. Maybe even other Tant, like Grungles or Loavreng.

Alicorn capabilities...Mass death...rinse dry repeat as needed within the span of a few days...that or all the journals were just the product of his deranged mind and yada yada he released the husk and did the being behind the mask's bidding.

Yes the Husk basically metamorphosed into a pseudo-alicorn, with magical abilities and the ability to use magic and fly. Also, the power of the Voice. No, not like the Dovakhiin, but rather the ability to command minds, psychically control people and telekensis.

Someone asked me about how metal burns the Sarantoi, basically anything with a soul burns them, if they happen to be touching the metal as it is touching the Sarantoi. Hence, burns.
