Closer-To-The-Sun

You gotta kick at the darkness until it bleeds daylight.

“Your friends, they are jewels,/Twice as beautiful and few.” -Iron & Wine, ‘Friends They Are Jewels’

After being enrolled at the School of Friendship, Ocellus took it upon herself to record her numerous findings about friendship and other aspects of life at the school.

Chapters (1)
Comments ( 5 )

This was so awesome in a way I struggle to describe. I honestly think a story in this format would work for Ocellus, or a character like her at least. It just seems like a perfect fit for her. Also, the notes themselves act lole writing prompts for the readers imagination. And you made so many! I hope this helps you write more in the future.

Thank you for the kinds words! I had a lot of fun of writing a fic like this with Twilight, I thought Ocellus would be perfect for this style as well!

And yes, feel adding the notes to add a little fun to each incident. Honestly, these six are way to fun to write for.

*is looking at the cover art*

Huh, I didn't know Ocellus had made the acquaintance of Closer-To-The-Sun...wonder how they met. :trollestia:

"ear fronds"

I've long been looking for a good term to describe those frills a lot of (but oddly not all) dragons are shown to have, and "ear fronds" seems like an excellent one. :raritystarry: I just might have to steal borrow that for myself in the future...

Transcript: While waiting for class to begin, the conversation between Gallus, Sandbar, and Smolder turned towards tattoos. Smolder expressed that she had always wanted a tattoo, which in turn Gallus volunteered to assist. Yona, Sandbar, and myself all expressed our reservations of such actions. Smolder requested the tattoo be that of a head of a purple and golden-colored dragon by the name of [REDACTED]. On Smolder’s upper right limb is where Gallus began his work with an assortment of markers and a ballpoint pen.

Liiiiiike as shown here? :trixieshiftright:

One question, submitted by Silverstream, was deemed impossible to solve by the entire group (“If lemon is seven, what is chair over the square root of weasel?”)

Considering the often pictographical nature of many of the math equations shown on the show, I like to think this wasn't actually not nonsense, just an attempt at a serious math equation, and it's only unsolvable because it's the equivalent of dividing by zero or something. :rainbowlaugh:

Also, does every creature have access to this record?

If anything, Ocellus, your choice to disguise it as a diary probably only made it more likely for creatures to try and steal peeks of it.

Smolder: The Trotaways, De La Foal, Draft Punk

So I know "Draft Punk," but I don't know the other two. :rainbowhuh:

Headmare Starlight Glimmer has learned of this record and has requested that I omit certain data and even some cases entirely.

Darn you, Starlight, I was enjoying these, and I hate that there's some I'm now missing out on! :rainbowlaugh:

I just might have to steal borrow that for myself in the future...

Feel free to use the ‘ear fronds’ term! I discovered it when exploring the MLP Wikia.

Liiiiiike as shown here?

Yup, that’s the one! I loved the idea that I couldn’t help but add it in.

Considering the often pictographical nature of many of the math equations shown on the show, I like to think this wasn't actually not nonsense, just an attempt at a serious math equation, and it's only unsolvable because it's the equivalent of dividing by zero or something.

Plot twist: it was a history question.

So I know "Draft Punk," but I don't know the other two

The Runaways, De La Soul, and Daft Punk. I love ponifying music.
