This story is a sequel to Flash Sentry Chronicles: School's in Session
The School of Friendship has opened its doors to all creatures, meaning a new wave of adventures soon await our heroes. Now they must juggle their everyday lives with the responsibilities of teaching along with being ready for whatever insanities might befall them. And with old foes returning to cause trouble along with new threats revealing themselves, life will never be boring in Equestria.

Good start with a chapter dedicated to Flash Magnus, this is going to be a great season, season 8 is my favorite for many reasons, (besides the episode where Spike gets his wings which I hope won't be skipped), like Chrysalis' failed plan by stealing the power of the tree, the episode of Starlight and Sunburst's parents, the appearance of the Kirins, etc.
This is an episode I WISH had happened in Season 8. This chapter showed EXACTLY how such an episode could've worked and even how much character progression could've happened. (Yet another reason why I hate the original Season 8.)
Awesome
I am surprised that Flash Magnus got his own chapter since he doesn't have an episode that focus on him like Rockhoof have but pleasantly surprised.
Here's highlights
Banshee and Electra, those two troublemakers.
Damn Magnus, that cold coming from you.
Banshee531: The master of Jinxing everyone.
Yup, that pretty much minor villains in nutshell.
Great start to this story. I especially love how you addressed Magnus and Sentry being possibly related.
This was an awesome start to the season! I remember during the your Season 7 finale I was a little disappointed that Flash Sentry didn't really get to interact with Flash Magnus at all, despite having been excited to meet him previously. But I think this chapter more than made up for it, with the two of them bonding together while taking on Banshee and Electra. The moment where Flash explains how his family is apparently connected to Magnus's family tree and that he was named after Magnus was pretty touching, especially when Flash explained that means Magnus really did achieve his dream.
It seems like Flash Magnus is still adjusting to this new world, since he is constantly referring to "his time". He might be behind the curve a bit, but he shows here that he is a fast learner. I thought it was interesting that Magnus decided to stay behind in the village and guard it from any new potential threats. I guess that means he won't be training the new guards in Canterlot here as his job like he did in canon. I admit that is a bit disappointing but this is clearly for a good cause.
I admit, I mainly like to ship Flash Magnus with Somnambula, so hearing he was hoping to marry someone else before the Pony of Shadows showed up was a bit surprising. Though it is thanks to that relationship we got the rest of Flash's family, so not really a bad thing. Maybe if he ever wants to settle down now he can always try finding love again.
It's off to a good start.
Nice to see Flash Magnus had found his calling, before he became a drill sergeant for the new recruits of Canterlot's Military. If they plan to stick to the original script that is.
double Flash combo they work well together
Wasn't expecting another pillar episode (besides Rockhoof) to start us off, making it a cool surprise! Magnus take on the present world was enjoyable, as well him & Flash taking on those 2 pain in the flank crooks!
As for Highlights :
I see we're off to a great start!
lol pretty much what I was expecting!
Open mouth, insert hoof in 3....2,,,,1,,,
Terrific, the chucklewood duo's back!
Can't disagree with you there Magnus!
Till the next chapter Banshee!
I hope not, this universe is getting a little too close as is.
Not entirely true, it's the dissolved ionic bonded compounds that carry the current, distilled doesn't conduct water, but more the most part, she is right.
An interesting kick-off for season 8, better than The Maud Couple, but Flash Magnus strikes me as he would more immediately take over the training of the military and set up garrisons, but it is a kick-off.
Honestly, I never liked Mudbriar. He's dull and annoying.
It was okay… I understand why this chapter wasn't very different since last chapter was very original. You did a decent job with this one. (Good use of foreshadowing Sunburst coming to Ponyville and get his job at School of Friendship)
This episode is just the beginning of a lot of controversial episodes from Season 8 (including infamous Marks for Efforts one. )
Here's highlights
Classic!
Wow! Didn't think Flash and others were actually betting on Maud of all ponies.
Although, I bet Flash must be happy that he won the bet. Cha-Ching!
Uh… is that Justice League reference? Correct me if I wrong.
Funny! Pinkie has been out-Pinkie by her boyfriend!
Or both.
Poor Wild! This is what happened when you are in a relationship with Ms. Pinkamena Diane Pie!
Except Applejack, Starlight.
She and Rogue are not in a relationship… yet.
Look like Wild is joining Soarin in "Wagner loves chicken" club!
, now that's funny!!!
*Technically* it wasn't too much of a difference but still enjoyable, more so with Wild *trying* to curb down Pinkie's attitude toward Mudbriar somewhat! (not an easy feat)
So we'll *Technically* get these Highlights out of the way :
*sigh* you have no idea Wild!
LOL wow Maud! Also does Twilight knows about this bet Flash made?
LOL Wild really knows her alright!
There, there Wild!
*woot woot woot* launching Glimmy ships!!!
Hard playing the straight man in this relationship eh Wild?
MY LITTLE PONY : MURDER IS MAGIC!!!
Good chapter Banshee, till the next one!
I enjoyed this chapter. You might not have changed a lot of things with the plot of the episode, but I liked all the extra scenes you added that showed different perspectives. Wild Smile was easily the best highlight of the chapter, he made a good foil for Pinkie's reaction to Mudbriar and his reactions to her antics slowly starting to get to him were hilarious. The added scene with Starlight and Maud talking about Starlight potentially getting in a relationship was well done too. It kinda felt like it was foreshadowing a relationship with Sunburst, since it seemed to describe him a lot, especially when he moves to Ponyville to work at the school in Season 9.
Personally, I admit I wasn't the biggest fan of Mudbriar in this episode, but by the time he reappeared in Season 9 he showed to slowly realize how his over-preciseness can be annoying at times and cuts back on it, so he was improving himself. Though at the same time, Pinke was being a bit selfish in the episode by trying to demonize him, but like Limestone said here, she was basically seeing what Maud is like to others without any bias from "sister glasses" influencing her.
Nice to hear Lightning and Rarity's relationship is still strong.
That was equally hilarious and awesome! Looks like Wild can finally match and control Pinkie... to a certain extent.
I don't know Starlight, there was one friend you cared so much about that losing him drove you to villainy for awhile. That's a pretty strong reaction for someone you wouldn't have strong feelings for.
Never thought I'd see the day someone actually wants to be insane, but I guess when dealing with Pinkie you might want a turn eventually.
Limestone might be my least favorite Pie sister, but you do a good job making her a softie.
was still a lot of fun I enjoyed it is ok to be lazy some times
I like this episode, i like mudbrair but im talking about the good work with wild smile, i have my thoughts in him being the couple of Pinkie Pie, but this episode show me he truly loves her.
Okay, this was fun. I wonder if we'll be seeing more of Flash and the others teaching this season.
I was probably one of the few people that liked Mudbriar when he first appeared. Sure, he's odd, and his quirks are often inconvenient, but I think he has a lot of opportunities to be interesting if only the writers would take the time to show the audience the world through his eyes.
I think I can understand why that characteristic can be seen as desirable. One unfortunate side affect of being that kind of a person is that you tend to get stuck on words a lot because you worry about misusing or overusing certain words. I should know. Is that something that's typical for people to worry about?
As an autistic, I instantly could relate to Mudbriar, I knew EXACTLY what kind of character he was and it made Pinkie's antics more annoying to me than anything but luckily she seemed to get better by the end of the episode.
A much better take on the story than the show. Wild provided a much-needed 'viewers' perspective. So can we hope for more of the other Pie Sisters?

I know a lot of people find Mudbriar's fixation on precision annoying, but I kinda understand where he's coming from. Language has a ton of ambiguity, and it's way too easy to misinterpret what people say to you. It's even easier if you have trouble picking up social cues. I'd like to think Mudbriar often misinterprets what other ponies mean when they try to communicate with him, so he overcompensates by trying way too hard to make sure he gives them nothing to misinterpret.
The love that I read in this chapter was something beautiful, Soarin did use all his heart in this one, I hardly know how to write romance but I can understand it a little, you make romance work very well in your stories and that is admirable.
The situations that happened, because of the way the characters behaved, could easily have been an episode of the original series, I know we already had the one with Big Mac and Sugarbelle but even so, your level of writing far exceeded it.
PS: With all this I just hope that in season 9 you don't skip the Dragon Dropped chapter, because that was a great Spike chapter, besides being the last test of Rarity's generosity, and I think that in your fic it will be better since he lost the love he had for Rariry
I wonder if this means Dash and Soarin will also be the first to have kids. Eh, maybe save that for the series finale.
Very unexpected but I glad you went with this route than Rainbow Dash being a caretaker of Granny Smith and her friends (I still don't understand why Applejack went to her to look out for them than other Mane Six)
What's a fitting chapter for Soarin and Rainbow finally becomes husband and wife.
I like his parents are nice and willing to help out their son.
Here's highlights
Wait, what?
What are you talking about?
Spits drink
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
Well, that is one crazy way to propose to your wife, Grand.
DAMN IT, SOARIN!
Damn...
We finally meet his parents for the first time.
Damn it, Bow.
Don't you means his head?
Come on, come on, say yes.
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
so when will it be Flash and Twilight's turn?
this was fun was surprised Twilight was among those who looked at their boyfriends at the whole married thing thought she would be too busy
Was that a Pirates of the Caribbean reference?
Good choice.
Really loved every word of it.
Whoa Nelly, totally blindsided by this move you pulled with Rainbow/Soarin here Banshee! Glad you took that overprotecting AJ episode & turned it into something wonderful for RD here! Now I wonder if they'll become parents first now eh???
As for Highlights :
Wait what???? Soarin you sly dog!
Surprised Rarity didn't shattered the castle's windows there!
lol sorry Grand, guess you'll have to take the *monster of the week* back to it's pen!
Ermmm oh look, a distraction! *throws smoke bomb on the floor*
That was beautiful!!!
Quite the ride for our daring pegasus mare, looking forward to see what the rest of S8's gonna be like Banshee!
This chapter was FIRE !!!!! I loved it so much, great work as always. I have only 1 problem, I would have choose Twilight to preside over the ceremonie rather than Mayor Mare because it would have been a reminder of the joke at the end of the friendship mission of Twilight and Flash at the seperated gender town ( you know what chapter I'm referring to or other will know). Continue this good work my friend.
Holy cow! Now that's how you break the status quo!
I was surprised to see such an important development this early into the season, but I fully welcome it. Soarindash is my second favorite ship in MLP, right behind Flashlight, so I am perfectly okay that they are the first couple to be officially married, especially since they were the first couple to hook up in this series. I thought it was interesting that you essentially used this chapter as a replacement for "Grannies Gone Wild", since although that episode wasn't bad or anything, my personal favorite moment from it was the bit of ship tease Rainbow and Soarin had in the opening scene together. This was a very beautiful and heartwarming chapter though, and I was grinning the whole way through just waiting for Soarin to pop the question. The big display he finally did towards the end was amazing and romantic, and I am also glad we finally got to meet his parents too. They seem nice and I'm glad they got along with Rainbow and her family.
I wonder how the two of them being married will change everything going forward? I would guess that Soarin would probably move in to Rainbow's house with her, and that might mean he will become a more permanent addition to the main cast instead of just being a recurring character. That also means that Rainbow and Soarin could essentially start having kids eventually too, but I think that might be something better for the finale or the time-skip at the end.
I wonder how this will affect the rest of the series?
I like that in contrast to the last episode where it's about Soarin and Rainbow becoming husband and wife but in this one, it's about the couple being essentially divorced.
I also like you chose to expand the world of Mount Aris and Seaquestria and giving development to Sky Beak and Ocean Flow and their reason why they are separate.
Here's highlights
Ha! Not so funny anymore, Scootaloo?
Uh… yeah about that. 😬
Despite Novo forgive her, Flash still never live Twilight down about what she did in the movie.
Spits drink
Did he actually uses "With great power comes great responsibility" line on Flash?!
I agree with you.
The actual episode was just Scootaloo and Sweetie fighting over something that could've easily be fix.
I glad you went the route with Terramar's parents.
Love the chapter.
Looking forward to more soon.
It was a good extension of this great episode, but from the parents side! Glad that Twilight/Flash got to spend some time together that didn't involve a crisis/monster of the week, plus some sweet lore with the hippogriffs is always welcomed!
Highlights include :
So it's a 50/50 type deal? Don't choke Springer!
Hmmm foreshadowing maybe?
lol that's what you get for letting your stomach decide first Flash!
Hopefully with a better outcome than during the war! *keeps claws crossed*
lol that's what you get for not going earlier Twilight!
Oh geez! *dread senses tingling*
Good chapter Banshee, till the next one!
This was a great episode in canon because of how much we got out of it, and it was pretty fun that you managed to show a different side to it by showing Twilight and Flash's perspective instead of the CMC's. I also think it is funny how Fire Heart is still upset he hasn't gotten one himself yet. I bet chances are when he finally gets one he'll end up regretting it, like it being at a bad time like Spike's was or just not enjoying the task.
The actual episode kept it a little vague on whether Sky Beak and Ocean Flow were actually divorced or just living in separate homes now, but it is easy to see how it could be referencing a divorce. A bit sad that it is much more thoroughly confirmed here that they are no longer married, but at least they clearly still care about each other.
Still it was pretty fun to see more sides of the hippogriff and seapony cultures. It was interesting how Queen Novo got the idea to split the pearl shards among everyone due to being told what happened to Wingill, and Flash got to talk to Soft Current some more, which I thought was nice since their last conversation was cut short due to Flash and the others getting kicked out. Ocean Flow talking about life in Seaquestria was one of my favorite parts, especially when she talked about how they can control what gender an egg hatches as depending on the temperature.
I know I enjoyed that event all week. I hope those two are enjoying themselves, and I'm excited for their return.
Wow, another grim reminder of Flash's fate. I know Heart's scar means the future and events he told Flash about are still happening, and I have to admit I'm still nervous about Flash's fate and what he can try to do to change it.
Great reworking of this épisode.
Yeah, I have opinions about this, but I'm not entirely comfortable expressing them here given how sensitive the subject matter is. That being said, it's nice that Ocean Flow and Sky Beak are so amicable with each other. It's a quite a lapse on their part that they failed to account for how the separation was going to affect their children, but stuff like that happens. At least, they're not badmouthing each other or trying to force their children to take sides because that does happen, and apparently, it's happened often enough that professional advice-givers have had to explicitly tell parents not to do that.
not sure they divorced in the show but it was a interesting idea
I just wondering what would Zephyr Breeze think of this?
It was good chapter for Young Six and the lesson is good.
Poor Sandbar, he always step on Cow poos.
Here's highlights
Look like we will be seeing Soarin a lot and it's nice to see how their married life so far.
You will regret saying that, Smolder.
You deserve that, Sandbar! Karma!
You made that pun on purpose, did you Banshee?
I wonder how Zephyr Breeze feel about this?
Great chapter by the way.
Is the game played by Ace and Mira a reference to Pooh Sticks?
11298496 Maybe.
11298441
Zephyr Breeze will be heart broken but he'd get over it.
This was a pretty relaxing chapter. It is nice the Student Six are getting a little more focus to flesh them out a bit more and show how well they are progressing. Interesting how something as simple as being scared of a bee can result in learning a lesson like this.
I have to admit, the running gag of Sandbar stepping in cowpat was hilarious.
Watch those kinds of comments Smolder. You don't want to get mistaken for a racist like Neighsay.
Good to hear they are doing well. I knew Soarin was going to move in with Rainbow, but nice to see he and Tank are getting along. It also makes sense they don't have any plans to have kids just yet. Some married couples usually want to wait a few years before they start having kids. Guess Pinkie will need to wait a little longer before getting to throw parties for more babies.
Wise words from the 4th Doctor.
Flash probably wants him to be prepared for whatever type of weapon his Celestic Gear turns out to be.
Wow, Sandbar can not catch a break!
Oh, my gosh! Yes! Pooh Sticks!
Dr. Who reference?
That was a fun chapter. I wonder if the twins and the cubs are going to have adventures of their own in later chapters.
Sweet chapter featuring the Young Six, especially since we didn't have a lot of those in canon. The lesson was well done, even if poor Sandy got the *luck of the irish* this time around!
Ok class, here are your Highlights :
Forgot about your armored scales there eh Smoldy?
Whoa whoa Pinkie, let them walk a bit before running girl!
Nice hint there Flash!
lol you had that coming Sandy!
You need to *bee* more observant kids!
Seriously Sandy, did you pissed off a black cat this morning?
Yak always go big eh?
Ding Ding Ding.....and book bug gets it!!!
Wow that pun kinda *stung*
Cool chapter Banshee, till next week!
was nice to see them all shine
Great chapter.
And a great lesson too.
