I'm Going to Bronycon! · 3:04am Jul 10th, 2013
I talked my parents into it. Now I get to attend my first convention! Is anyone else going?
I'm 24 year old pegasister and an Mechanical Engineering student at SIUE.

I just spent a week in the Ozark Mountains and Branson (Southwestern Missouri) with my family. They didn't tell me that there would be no internet out there until after we were well on our way. A whole week without pony. I kept a stiff upper lip about it, but my brother bitched enough for the two of us. Just letting you all know I'm not dead, but it may take me a while to catch up. I have 650 notifications and 65 updates to sort through... this is going to take a while.
I finally made a passable sketch of my O.C., Widget. I ended up breaking out an old "How to Draw" book. It makes me feel silly to have to review the basics again. I still need a lot of practice.
Someone asked me what ships I like. After thinking about it, I have to say that my tastes tend to be a little odd. Here's just a few of them (you can ask me about others in the comments):
Spike X Twilight
Discord X Twilight
Rarity X Braeburn
Spiderman X Twilight
Ryoga (Ranma 1/2) X Fluttershy
Raven X Danny Phantom
Trixie X Big Macintosh
Rogue X Cyborg
Inuyasha X Raven
Am I weird?
Seriously. Why? I tried to draw my O.C. today. Be glad I didn't post it here. Maybe I should stick to drawing dragons and critters... not sure what folks on a pony site would think of that.
Well, it's a start... Not sure how to get rid of the white areas when using the bucket fill. Next time I might even add a proper background.
No, not that. Ferrets are always awesome, but I'm talking about something else.
No, not that either (I hope talking about non-pony things on a pony site isn't against the rules).
I looked up tutorials on the basics of how to use GIMP and can now at least change the size and shape of the brush. I can also use layers. I still can't change the color of the "ink" to blue/grey/anything but freaking black. Right now my drawings look like something created by a six year old since I can't lay down a sketch layer and build on it with other layers because the "sketch" is as dark as the final ink (let's not even start on the inability to add color to the finished line art). None
I've always been a decent artist, even if I can't seem to get ponies to look right. I tried scanning in some of my pencil drawings to use as coverart for my stories, but they never looked right. I figured it was time for me to upgrade. I ordered a Bamboo tablet from Amazon so I could try my hand at drawing digitally. After the package got sent to the wrong address and I had to drive 4 hours to go get it at the UPS warehouse since neither UPS or Amazon wanted to take responsibility for
An old childhood friend came to visit me. How many of you remember this?

I blame it for my fascination with lycanthrpopy and simultaneous dislike for vampires. At least it saved me from the Twilight Saga. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some episodes to rewatch...
