Whilst traveling with Doctor Whooves, Derpy/Ditzy falls in love with Prince Sombra, back when he was good.
Somrba wants to marry her, even after learning of her origins and what it means, that she'd have to leave him and return to her own time.
So they get married and live together for a time, Ditzy falls pregnant and this provides the opportunity for a clever lie so she may return to her home.
