New year's resolutions... · 1:29am Jan 1st, 2023
Happy new year, 2023 ! Darn... I don't know about you, but to me, 2022 passed FAST! Then again, with all the crap that happened around the world, maybe that's for the better .
I decided to give 2023 a chance and start it with some optimism and set up some resolutions I'll try to keep. Here is a list if someone wants to keep me accountable :
- finish re-writing 'Lonely among us' - I know it's waaay overdue, but I want to get it done! About 30% is already completed, but I'll need twice as much before I consider publishing the first chapter. Please, keep your fingers crossed
- read at least 5-8K words per day - I got a little rusty lately; time to create some routine and stick to it
- cut time spent on social media to a max of 1-2h per day, and limit politics - F-U YouTube! You're not gonna be stealing my time anymore! ... not as much, anyway...
- to drop from my current weight of 93 Kg to 69-75 Kg - the last year, I went from 121 to 84 Kg, so I know what to do. I just need to get back to my routine and cut crap food and... vodka. The latter may be a problem
- stop whining and start acting my age - if you haven't found your place in the world by the age of 36, I think it's time to 'suck it up,' accept that you're different, and stop bothering people with existential questions .
So, that's my little plan - wish me luck .
Does anybody care to share their new year's resolutions ?
Happy New Year's, and good luck! Nothing much planned for myself yet.

Thanks Let's hope that 2023 will finally be able to break the curse that started around 2020 so that 365 days from now, we'll be able to say, 'It was a good year!'
I know it's a long shot, but hey! There is no crime in hoping

Ahh, but one of my hobbies has a...disappointing quote for that, which I can never avoid thinking of when I see that word.
Look at it this way, though. If you've already dropped the weight once before and know what works for you, then hope is not even needed; it's a certainty. Everything else is a dice roll. I'll roll mine to not get a new injury this year .

Love the quote! It's so optimistic it sounds almost... Polish Well, there is always an approach of Lieutenant Ronald Speirs:

I know it's a little bleak, but we're talking about a guy who - among other crazy shit - pulled this off (in reality, I mean):
It seems to me he knew what he was talking about
I'll drink to that and to a quick recovery from any injuries you got in the 2022 dumpster fire

Oh, that ties in with another quote I like, one that's even pony-related! From Rites of Ascension, the motto for one military unit (and inspiration for a spell Twilight creates with the same name) is "Una Salus Victis", the one hope of the doomed. The only hope to survive is to not hope for survival, so using it nearly kills her and would have left her crippled if she was a regular unicorn. In truth, I wouldn't be surprised if it was based off him or a very similar military mindset.
Cheers! Let 2023 douse that blazing dumpster.
Hey, it's been since we talked. How are these resolutions coming?
My sole resolution for 2023 is to get as close to the finish line with my joint bullshit as possible. Not exactly the most exciting or specific, but I can't think of anything more important right now haha.

Good for you, man . Unfortunately, in my case, stress at work keeps me from going after the rest of the goals (at least, that's the lie I'm telling myself for now). It's all stalled for the moment, well... maybe, except for the:
Ever since I learned that talking to a bottle is more efficient than trying to talk to people, I haven't written a single whiny post here or anywhere else, so... yay !

Dude, that's actually worrying
5741074
Only when the bottle starts talking back to you
... in all seriousness, I drink once a week tops, so it's not that bad. I know this behavior is not exactly healthy, but there comes a point when you have to realize some things won't get any better, no matter how much you whine about it or how many existential questions you ask. And... since some of the conversations I had with people about these things got a little 'heated,' turning to the bottle instead of people seems like a good idea for the time being. At least it doesn't try to judge you, and you know exactly what to expect from it...
Sorry if that came out as another doom and gloom, but like I said - it is what it is. Another reason to try to keep it contained within .

I have to ask... why? You're obviously under no obligation to tell me what's going on, and you can respond via PM if you prefer the privacy. But unless you have something legitimately life ending or incurable, I can't see why things can't get better. Hard for me to say more without knowing what the exact issues are and what caused them, but how would they be unbeatable if they're not medical and/or deadly? Is Wagner approaching your home?
I tend to be Mr. Optimist not out of some naivety, but more due to realizing that if I attack a problem, I'll learn from my failures and then get better at attacking until I beat it. That said, knowing how to take failure well helps a lot. Video games were honestly what taught me that haha.
I'm always open for a PM Though I will respond incredibly late
I will judge... though I won't ever stop responding out of anger or annoyance, if that makes sense.
