Yep, I'm getting there! · 10:16pm Aug 14th, 2015
No, I haven't abandoned the story. I'm just starting to collate all the ideas into one place, then start chapter outlines. My ideas are spread between a text file, notebook, and note app on my phone. I need to consolidate and organize my ideas by chapter, fix inconsistencies and the like.
Again, I will mention that I am retconning Equestria Girls. Not because I hate it or anything, but because:
#1 - It will cause issues with my story, which I'd deal with except for...
#2 - It's irrelevant even so far as the show is concerned. It may be 'official' canon, but it's not referenced in the show directly - For every small bit that supports it, there is something to refute it. IE: Continuity issues.
So yeah, even so far as my human character is concerned, Equestria Girls doesn't exist.
I also won't delve into the comics either. For one, I haven't read most of them (just Fiendship is Magic so far), and a lot of fellow bronies haven't either, I expect.
I'll be trying to keep continuity and canon, but as there are over 100 episodes, I can't promise I won't accidentally retcon something that happened in the show. I beg forgiveness if and when that happens.
Lastly, consider everything past S5E13 inapplicable. I started writing up this story a bit before, and during the break in the season. That's not to say that I won't possibly incorporate something that happens in the second half of Season 5 into my show if it suits my purposes (Re: Having my cake and eating it too), but I don't expect that to happen. If I stick with my plan, several chapters will already be written and posted by the time it resumes (mid September apparently), and I hope to have more on backlog in case I get busy with something or suffer writers block. Having a buffer is handy.
More details to follow in a future blog post, once I'm done organizing my ideas and have started writing on the story itself.
