An Intricate Response · 10:58pm Jan 11th, 2019
Dear FIMFic,
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? If you’re still around, I’m thinking you’ve probably gotten wind of a rather controversial topic posted by MrNumbers regarding the state of FimFiction’s story landscape. While I normally don’t do this sort of thing, An Intricate Disguise wrote a rather thought provoking response to it.
If you’re interested in reading it, Here it is.
Also, I’m thinking about writing some new stuff. Hope to have a new story going by the end of the month.
Regards,
C.B.
Yeah it's kind of blowing up.
Both AID and Numbers bring up valid points... I was writing a post this morning before I passed out (at the keyboard) directed towards I don't know who but I'll post it here.
The number of openly female authors (that I know of) has dropped like a stone. But saying that the site is full of toxic straight males is probably a stretch. Hell, look at all the gay clop and we have to admit that's a falsehood.
As for the clop itself? I remember when I joined there was far less of it making feature, there was less fetish clop too.
But to be fair it's all kinda fetish, except for those people who've written EqG clop that's obviously not EqG and just people using the names and maybe 1 character trait from the characters. (Can we shame them instead?)
I also wouldn't say that this community has become more toxic towards female authors. (I remember Reality Check afterall)
I will grant that there's less fics with a more female writing style to them hitting feature too... But that's not the fault of the authors under attack here (well, unless you're saying that they should stop writing. Which they shouldn't.)
Just because someone doesn't like something it doesn't mean it's bad or wrong (granted it can be but I've put up with lots of things I don't like because others do.)
I know how Numbers feels (and actually agree with a lot of it) and there isn't much that can be done about it. Times change, so do people, so do communities.
What's this FimFic controversy ?
