Has anyone else ever contemplated how stupid phone bills really are? · 9:24pm Oct 8th, 2020
Like, honestly, what was going through the people who created the internet and data's heads? "Okay, we're going to make the greatest innovation ever, everyone is going to want it, they'll be able to talk to their families, they'll be able to stream whatever videos they want, and they'll be able to do pretty much anything, but we're gonna be dicks and make them pay for it" I just find it stupid how we have to pay to watch TV and use the internet, and all that happy horseshit, and I'm not dissing on capitalism, I just think there are certain things that we should pay for, and certain things that it's honestly quite trivial to me why they would decide to make everyone else's lives harder by capitalizing it, idk, sorry for the rant, I'm not looking for a debate I'm just overthinking, and I kinda wanted to see if anyone else here shared in my opinion

I'm old enough to remember when you were charged for how many minutes you spent online, not how much data your device recieved. And this was before cellphones were a real thing. Everything was done by a landline, and unless you shelled out for multiple lines, using the internet meant you couldn't make or receive phone calls.
All this blog did was make me feel old.

I remember that too but I still hate being billed
I remember telegraph offices, party line telephones, and steam locomotives.
satellite, tower and line repairs and maintenance isn't done for free last I checked. Money has to come from somewhere and you would technically still be paying for it either way.

Don't forget bag phones and having to go outside to turn an antenna by hand to get TV reception.
