As the blast roared towards the fillies, three things happened at once. The first was a wave of water that lashed up from the river to knock Daolong Wong off his feet. The second was Hsi Wu diving to send all four girls prone to duck the blast. The third was the blast taking on a golden-green aura before arcing away from them to be swallowed up in by Po Kong.
Valmont reacted immediately. "What do you think you're doing?" he demanded angrily.
"I don't see how that's your concern," Daolong Wong responded dryly as he gathered his magic anew, watching idly as the pouch Apple Bloom had been carrying spilled open, the vials inside bouncing across the stone ground as one smashed open over the large drum nearby. "After all, you released me from immediate duty just a minute ago."
"Then I'm calling you back!" Valmont snapped out.
"I'm sorry, I'm a bit busy just now," Wong responded wickedly. "I'll get back to you." He lifted his staff. "Gan! Ren! Chui!" His three Dark Warriors appeared at his call, immediately lunging for the girls...only to be knocked back by Audrey's lashing vines.
Valmont's teeth clenched as his eyes bulged with his rage at being defied like this, at this worst possible moment. As his rage continued to build, he suddenly clutched at his head and fell back. His body vibrated, and for a brief moment two silhouettes were superimposed over him. One was the spirit of Shendu...the other completely indistinct. As the image faded, he slumped back. Bai Tza quickly moved to protect him, glaring daggers at Daolong Wong.
Hsi Wu shifted into position between the Dark Wizard and the girls, discarding his human form as he braced himself for combat. "You really should have chosen your battlegrounds better if this was your intent," he hissed out angrily as he called the winds, the rains, the clouds, the light of the sun, the air itself into his claws, preparing his magic for combat. "You know our little sister is protective of the fillies, you know my bindings, and you saw how Po Kong feels about the situation. Did you truly think you could stand against three Demon Sorcerers?"
Daolong Wong laughed darkly. "I never believed I would have to," he growled as he raised his staff before beginning to chant. "Ya Gaa Mee Mo Ya Gaa Mee Chi Wa...Ya Gaa Mee Mo Ya Gaa Mee Chi Wa..." The crystal in the staff blazed with light, dragging energy out of the three Demon Sorcerers and funneling it into the Dark Warriors.
Hsi Wu hissed in pain as he grabbed at his chest, going to one knee. "That spell...how did you learn of it?"
As Daolong Wong simply smirked, Jade moved to Hsi Wu's side. "What about that spell?" she demanded worriedly.
"I created it!" Hsi snapped out. "It was meant to let us combine our magics...but in the hands of a human, it could drain our magic right out of us! The Immortals used it to steal a piece of our Demon Chi as part of sealing us in the Netherrealm! But before I was sealed I cursed the spell, so no mortal eyes could ever behold it again!"
"Exactly," Daolong Wong responded with a wide grin, tapping his yellow left eye surrounded by the lightning bolt marking. "No mortal eye. It was quite the trial swiping this from Mimir...but it's proven worth it time and time again."
"Damn you!" Hsi Wu snapped out, trying to push himself to his feet.
"Don't bother," Daolong Wong stated flatly. "With your power feeding into my Warriors, you can't move...and you'll be immobile for quite some time after the spell is broken, and by then I'll have what I need. It would have been much simpler for all of you if you'd just let me take what I came for without this interference."
As he spoke, the Dark Warriors changed. Gan's body shifted from crimson to pale blue, his legs fusing together into a watery tail. Ren's skin turned grey as wings sprouted from his back. Chui turned green and gold, bulking up even more than he already was as his hammer increased in size as well.
Sweetie Belle reached desperately into her saddlebags and pulled out a strand of wool, quickly tying it around her own horn. "Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao...Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao..." As she chanted, a sphere of magic surrounded the four girls in a protective barrier. At the same time, the potion soaked drum began to glow.
Jade began frantically searching through the satchels even as the Demon Enhanced Dark Warriors began pounding on the barrier. "Come on, come on..." she murmured worriedly, flinching back as the enhanced hammer smashed down on the barrier, releasing a shower of sparks. "Something here has gotta help!"
"Better do it quick!" Apple Bloom called out worriedly as Ren swooped down, using his boomerang blade in an attempt to cut through the barrier like a buzzsaw. "Look!"
She pointed to where Bai Tza - still in her human form - was slumped against Valmont struggling to breathe.
"She wasn't...born demon," Hsi Wu managed to speak up. "If she were...in her demon form this...would just be a drain. But that form...is based on her original form. The spell...is sucking her demon magic...out from under her Wild Magic. If...if we don't stop it soon..."
Audrey's vines suddenly wrapped around Ren, slamming him repeatedly into the ground before hurling him straight into the glowing drum. It let off a loud boom as the Dark Warrior burst into smoke.
"That won't help for long," Daolong Wong growled as he started draining more magic, determined to get what he came for. The wisps of smoke moved towards him, beginning to take shape again.
Noticing Chui was between the barrier and the drum, Jade grabbed another bottle out of the satchel and popped it open. "Fǎnyìng lìliàng! Fǎnyìng lìliàng!" The smoke took the shape of a mirror just in front of the massive sledge. As the hammer struck the mirror, the mirror shattered and Chui was blown back with the force of the blow. He slammed into the drum, setting off another loud boom before bursting into smoke. The recoil from the spell also sent Jade to the opposite end of the barrier, closer to Po Kong, knocking her unconscious.
Hsi Wu's eyes widened. "Don't hit the drum again!" he called out desperately. "It has Po's banishment spell on it! A third strike will activate it!"
"How else are you going to deal with this?" Daolong Wong roared out, channeling all his gathered magic into Gan. Wings sprouted from his back as the blue was joined by green and gold. Three colors of magic gathered in the staff as it was thrown, shattering the barrier and scattering all inside explosively from the backshock.
Po Kong watched the battle unfold. She wasn't as weakened as her siblings by the drain due to her large size and just how much Chi she had to draw on. It would be painful to use magic while the spell was active, but not debilitating. However, she'd held back because moving too much here might hurt those she would be trying to protect, and she couldn't reach far enough to do much physically.
However, seeing Jade and the others about to be overwhelmed, she knew she would have to make a choice. She'd watched how Bai had developed a soft spot for the girls, how she relished those interactions...how they were becoming surrogates for her missing daughters. Assuming Daolong Wong's current spell didn't finish Bai off due to her not being in her demonic form, whatever he did to the fillies once he had them would. And she knew a powerful enough active Good Chi enchantment being activated would negate the magic the Dark Wizard had going, and prevent him from drawing more for a good while. I may not attend the wedding, she thought silently to herself, but I'll see it happen. Reaching forward with one hand, she clenched her fist.
Gan suddenly jerked, his body trapped in Po Kong's aura...though he already struggled to free himself. "What?" Daolong Wong gasped in shock.
Po Kong turned her eyes to Valmont. "Take care of her." With that, she thrust forward...and Gan flew into the drum, bursting into smoke with the final boom.
A blast of green magic shot out of the drum, dispelling Daolong Wong's spells even as Po Kong's portal once more opened up, slowly sucking her back into the netherrealm. She didn't even bother to fight it, letting herself be pulled back as she accepted that as the cost for saving her sister. She did reach forward in an attempt to seize Daolong Wong and drag him back into the Netherrealm with her, but he warped out of her grip just as her claws closed on him. She sighed in frustration at her failure.
...as a result, she missed what - or rather, who - was caught in her other claw as the portal closed on her.
Uh-oh.
...I feel like she took the walking musical reference with her.
8406503
You're damn right uh-oh.
Edit: Shendu, maybe?
Jade banished with her maybe?
Either way Daolong now has to deal with Bai, Hsi, Valmont, all the Chans, Viper and Tohru. Simply said, dude fucked up
God damn it....
where's the Rainbow Nuke when you need it....
Well, I think Po Kong has more than earned an affectionate title from the Crusaders and Jade like Aunty or Big Sis. Whomever got stuck in the portal with her... if its Jade or one of the Crusaders I hope they can find a way to get her out with them, maybe by her forming a bond with them like her brother did with Jade???
She just grabbed one of those afterimage entities floating around Valmont.
... Yeah... ain't got much to properly say here. Just hoping it wasn't Jade at the end. Unless this could perhaps be another chance for her to assume her 'Queen' form? There's alot of dark Chi where the demons are after all...

He was difficult enough to hunt down in canon, where he barely used any scrying wards at all and allowed obscurity to be his best defense.
This new post-Harmonification version of Daolong Wong has spent decades of evolving his hiding techniques by active practice against a world that knows how to find people like him, and i will explain the why to you.
In the old canon-world, Daolong Wong murdering his and Uncle's master was horrible, but meaningless to the rest of the global magical community, due to the isolation meaning that only Uncle and Wong ever knew the true fate of their master; the rest of the world assumed their master had just dissapeared.
The Harmonization wave that created the new world retroactively changed the timeline so that the global magical community was always tight-knit in its communication of events, so Daolong Wong's murder would have been immediately noted the instant such a powerful mage suffered a dark magic death, and alternate-past-Uncle's report of his masyer's death and eyewitnesx testimony against Wong would have been recieved with seriousness and immediate magical community BOLO alert.
Now realize, with that sort of man-hunt response having had happened in this new timeline's past, just how dangerously skilled thus new timeline's version of apprentice-age-Wong to have evaded capture so completely, and realize that the man-hunt would gave been kept active all these years as an open case-file with active investigation whenever any trail would have appeared.
Now realize how that means this new world's Daolong Wong must have kept improving on his stealth tactics and obscuration wards for the rest of his post-murder life, to such frightening success that he completely dissapeared long enough to stabilize his own power base and reemerge into the criminal underworld as publicly-known a wizard-for-hire.
Now realize, this same version of Daolong Wong has been openly advertising his illegal services for years or decades, yet still somehow he still avoids being located or arrested by modernized and competently networked global and local magical authorities with full governmental integration and funding?!?!?!
If you have read through this comment in full then you will have realized that this new world's version of Daolong Wong is a globally recognized dangerous motherfucker and that
YOU SHOULD BE SCARED!!!
So Po Kong sacrificed her freedom to save 4 lives and the happiness of her sister. In the process however, she accidentally snatched Jade instead of Daolong Wong, which means both she and Hsi Wu will be in the demon netherrhelm until Shendu's portal can be opened to get them out.
I sincerely hope the Magic council takes into consideration what Po Kong did, especially since there was a witness outside of the Chan fillies, Valmont, and Bai Tza to corroborate Po Kong's actions and maybe release her on probation. And maybe give her something which would allow her to assume a human form… a tall, muscular, green hulking human form with a strength to exceed
Tohru's.
Almost as if she were to become something like a "She-Hulk."
Either that or the CMC take it upon themselves to release her like they did with Hsi Wu and Jade will have two Demon Sorcerers as her familiars. One who is her boyfriend/future husband and one who is her She-Hulk like body guard/nanny who might or might not take a liking to a certain Billy Goat…
…Just picturing the possibilities of Viper (and a certain demon trapped in body armor) comparing herself to the new green "Amazon goddess" housemate, in addition to Tohru's three brides already has me in stitches. As does the possibility of of Jade's will being she should have an Aunt if she has an Uncle.
So… looks like Valmont's and Shendu's spirits have started to merge because of his rage towards Daolong Wong. I also have a gut feeling the first order of business for the Dark Hand—once Valmont wakes up—will be aligning with the CMC to rescue Jade and thus open Shendu's portal in China.
So, I guess the convention is off?
8406561
Never seen the original so can't comment on that, Doubt it had a divine powered Scootaloo, a Viper with demonic armour or Tohru with 3 Minataurs.
Either way it will be entertaining if he does manage to be the next villain target. Since once he is found however long it takes I can see a great deal of pain coming his way.
8406591
(i updated that comment in the time after you responded)

Maybe, I think I might have been half dead from exhaustion when I read that chapter.
Then again I am most days by the time i'm done working, working out and reading up on stuff i need to do/remember.

Never said it would be easy for them, nor that he made errors in calculations.
From what you said (cheers for backstory, still catching up on RvB for Tats other stories), yea guy is serious trouble not doubting that.
The only difference I see that makes me think it will be more brutal than the original (maybe) is the emotional investment that the characters with lower moral inhibitions to do greater damage have to the girls that he just attacked, you may be right in that he is capable to avoid them or even fight back with his own power for a time. However when that resistance reaches its climax as they are due in stories I just feel it will be much more brutal then a regular kids cartoon can express.
I look forward to how it comes about either way haha
Hang on a second...
Did that bastard steal ODIN'S FREAKING EYE? As in the one he traded for immense magical power and knowledge? How the heck did he pull that off?
It is 4 AM and I've been at this story for two days (three?). I'm FINALLY caught up...and what a cliffhanger to be caught up at!
Damn, Tats. You never fail to give us hair pulling cliffhangers.
Well.... If Wong ever reappears... Audrey III is gonna eat him...
calling it now, she grabbed Shendu outta Valmont
Now Po Kong has gained the good side on the CMCs. They will surely search for a loophole for her.
... and if Jade was dragged along with her, then that is what certainly will happen.
Come on at least have Valmont kick Wongs ass!!!
Seriously he's the head of practically the best criminal organization he should himself know some type of martial arts or something at least and with the magic blast he could have in his muscle memory trained in using magic in combat as well(Chi blocker anyone?). Come on Tats your missing a great opportunity!
Pretty careless of Valmont not to have anticipated Wong going after the whole reason he agreed to help in the first place. Given his characterization as becoming personable with all employees, I had assumed he was getting to know Wong off-screen, so to speak, while working with the demons. As such, I would think the simplest solution Valmont would go for would be to ask the fillies if they'd be willing to peacefully trade for the ingredients Wong wanted, further ingratiating himself with the Chans and maintaining the peace.
It's funny when you think about it. For all of Valmont's efforts to avoid a crackdown from the Veil, he's also been a rather skilled peace keeper. Perhaps a future character arc could involve him becoming a new Veil Guardian, maybe for the oceans so he could stay close to his favorite siren.
Oh come on! Po Kong was gonna be my favorite released demon! They better find a loophole for release for her!
...And she still better get that vegetarian restaurant in Canada...

Anyone know where Shendu's demon chi is located, I'm thinking Valmont would seriously benefit from a little "Enter The Dragon" action here.
Something tells me that isn't good
Huh, turns out that Daolong Wong actually was prepared for that fight at that place and time with those participants. Good thing that the Demon Sorcerers have been steadily becoming less and less antagonists of the Chans.
8406568
8406538
I counter she grabbed Valmont’s. Shendu was up to something and probably didn't think things through and now got Valmont taken and he now has a body to control. Bai is going to be very mad when she finds out.
8406731
He probably is still going off his files and obviously something was either omitted or magically concealed. I doubt if he knew the whole story he would have brought him along as far as he has.
8406731
Even a mastermind can have a slip or two. Also Valmont didn´t know about the spell, so he couldn´t have possibly predicted Dao choosing this moment to attack.
8406763
It better not be the water waifu or Jade... I hope it's Shendu.
DUN-DUN-DUUUUUNNNNNNNNNN!!!
...yep, Daolong Wong is in trouble. Anyway, can't wait for confirmation on who got pulled in with Po Kong.
8406757
Well, if I remember correctly, after they had all been sent back in the show, they planned to bring them all back through Shendu's gate. So, hopefully that'll be how they get back.
I'm just waiting for the stunned, and then smug, look on Captain Black's face when he finds out that Valmont have come to the Chans/Section 13 for help.
8406660
Well he HAS been making a lot of money from Valmont lately. Plus he's one of the top most experts in Magic in terms of Mortals on Earth. He is both crafty AND powerful. I wouldn't put it past him to make various deals, steal, etc to get what he wanted. Not only that, but he has Valmont's connections as well, so it's not like he probably didn't use those as well.
My bet is on Valmont being pulled in. And then his connection to Shendu combined with the energies of the netherworld making him a demon.
Well, shit
I remember Shendu's son chanting that spell.
She dragged Jade didn't she. I think I remember that from the show back when it was still showing on TV
No, Po Kong! Damn you, Wong! Damn you!
8406561
Indeed he is absolutely TERRIFYING!
Unless Valmont was accidentally grabbed by Po Kong, Daolong Wong is going to have a VERY bad time with both sides of the law gunning for him now.
Before he had to hide from magical and technological authorities, but with Valmont's vast connections even the underworld isn't a secure place anymore for the dark wizard.
I've gotta say, my heart skipped more than a couple beats at that cliffhanger. And as of posting this, I haven't seen a single comment mirroring my thoughts. I've seen Valmont, Shendu, and Jade all mentioned, Hsi as a side-effect of Jade, but so far I think I'm the only one who fears that Po Kong's got the CMC in her hand. If she does have the fillies in her claw, and thusly the Demon Realm, the Chans are gonna snap.
I really, really hope that Po didn't grab the Crusaders.
8407107
Don´t forget he has just put his name in the Demon Brotherhood´s personal shit list.
Of course, Dao must have anticipated all of this and plan accordly. I wonder about the kind of power he think he can obtain with the Crusaders to justify such risks.
this at least has to result in some action agianst those involved, maybe not valmont directly but he was invovled. your going to have severly pissed off gods all over the sector, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Greek, Norse, Celtic, Indian, there is no way they can sit back and let the bureaucratic BS cover it now.

Why would this event piss any of them off? As far as the divine level is concerned, it's an isolated incident involving a licensed artifact (the Pan'ku Box) being used for its intended purpose.
Please stop assuming you know how the system works when I've been deliberately only been revealing those aspects specifically relevant to the situations as they happen. Also please stop assuming that divine beings would ignore a system they've long been a part of for several thousand years just because they got annoyed. After that long, even first reactions will have shifted simply out of change of habits.
8406697
Nope, Valmont is at Best a badass-normal, if only because he can play chess with Xantos and come out 1:1 for wins/losses. Physical/martial activities have always more or less been the purview of his Enforcers, and at best he probably only knows enough martial arts to stay alive long enough to run away. Valmont is the King, while Bai is his Queen and his Enforcers are his Knights Bishops and Rooks, while all the lower staff working for him behind the scenes are the Pawns.
Furthermore, since he was at the epicenter of the Magical-retroactive-normalization event, he was unaffected by it, so he still only has all of his Canon abilities. He's just adapted them remarkably well to the new situation. Even in the new magically normalized world I'm betting that before he got involved with Shendu the "backstory" that was retroactively created for him had very little to do with Magic outside of retaining Wong's services for bypassing magical security and drawing up Gias Contracts for his employees (which he learned about after the fact by going through his records and looking for inconsistencies with his memories).
8407286
Why would the other pantheons even care? It's the Chinese Immortals' problem. And the cmc have collectively met one god that I know of, Scootaloo meeting two others on her own, so at most that's three gods that would have a personal reason to get involved.
...Well played.
never ever trust a dark mage in your service......EVER!!!
